Poor enhancement pattern of left atrial appendage in cardiac computed tomography is associated with stroke in persistent atrial fibrillation patients.
Conclusions: The LAA enhancement pattern observed using cardiac CT is associated with the risk of stroke. Poor enhancement in the LAA suggests a potential high risk of stroke. PMID: 31559034 [PubMed]

Disappearance of the hyperdense MCA sign after stroke thrombolysis: implications for prognosis and early patient selection for clot retrieval.
Conclusion Disappearance of HMCAS is associated with better clinical and radiological outcomes. A shorter thrombus is more likely to disappear postthrombolysis. The data highlight the limitation of intravenous thrombolysis in patients with longer hyperattenuated vessels, and the potential role for clot retrieval in such patients. The management of patients with acute ischemic stroke while on direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs): data from an Italian cohort and a proposed algorithm
This study aimed at investigating whether there is any relationship between DOAC plasma levels and the stroke occurrence, on the basis of the phenotypic classification and pathophysiology of the stroke, in a cohort of DOAC-treated patients admitted to our hospital for AIS o ver 1-year period. A total of 28 patients had DOAC plasma levels determined in emergency and were included in the study, nine patients receiving dabigatran, 11 rivaroxaban and 8 apixaban. Telemedicine remote controlled stroke evaluation and treatment, the experience of radiographers, paramedics and junior doctors in a novel rural stroke management team
CONCLUSIONS: The telemedicine-based, remote controlled, stroke evaluation and treatment was experienced, by the participants, to be well organised and of high quality. Communication and image reading appear to be the salient challenges. Regular training sessions and follow-up, as well as an evaluation of incidents by the project manager, proved to be of great importance in retaining and securing the continued running of the service and ensuring high-quality treatment. Diagnostic value of whole-brain computed tomographic perfusion imaging for suspected large artery occlusion stroke patients in emergency department
ConclusionThis retrospective study indicates WB-CTP can be useful in identifying acute ischemic stroke in emergency department, especially for patients with acute LAO stroke. Moreover, WB-CTP may have a value in differentiating stroke mimics such as epilepsy and CVST.

Routine serum C‐reactive protein and stroke outcome after intravenous thrombolysis
ConclusionsAccording to our findings, elevated routine serum CRP measured within 24 h after admission does not seem to independently affect the outcome in patients receiving intravenous thrombolysis for stroke. However, further studies of blood samples taken directly before the treatment are needed.

Improvement in Rates of Thrombolytic Therapy in Acute Stroke by a Telestroke Program in Rural Northern Wisconsin (P1.011)

Assessment of acute stroke cerebral CT examinations by anaesthesiologists
ConclusionsThis study suggests that anaesthesiologists who are experienced in pre‐hospital care may be quickly trained to assess cerebral CT examinations in acute stroke patients with regard to radiological contraindications for thrombolytic therapy.
