Radiomics-Based Intracranial Thrombus Features on CT and CTA Predict Recanalization with Intravenous Alteplase in Patients with Acute Ischemic Stroke FUNCTIONAL
CONCLUSIONS: Thrombus radiomics features derived from NCCT and CTA are more predictive of recanalization with IV alteplase in patients with acute ischemic stroke with proximal occlusion than previously known thrombus imaging features such as length, volume, and permeability.

Acute Ischemic Stroke in a Child Successfully Treated with Thrombolytic Therapy and Mechanical Thrombectomy
We present the case of a 4-year-old boy with complex congenital heart disease, admitted 30 min after sudden onset of an aphasia and right hemiplegia, scoring 14 on the Pediatric National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (PedNIHSS). Non-contrast brain computed tomography (CT) showed no evidence of acute ischemia. CT angiogram demonstrated a thrombus in the M1 segment of the left middle cerebral artery. Intravenous recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rTPA) was infused 3.5 h after onset of symptoms. An improvement was observed in the hour after rTPA, with a PedNIHSS score of 7. Digital subtraction angiography was perfo...

A Case of Ischemic Stroke With Congenital Protein C Deficiency and Carotid Web Successfully Treated by Anticoagulant and Carotid Stenting
Conclusion: To our knowledge, this is the first report in which an immediate thrombus formation on the carotid web was observed in a patient with congenital protein C deficiency. In a case of acute ischemic stroke with carotid web, especially when congenital coagulopathy such as protein C deficiency is suspected, careful follow-up with ultrasound imaging should be performed.

Dietary Glycemic Index and Glycemic Load in Relation to Atherosclerotic Stenosis of Carotid and Cardiovascular Risk Factors in Ischemic Stroke Patients.
CONCLUSION: Higher GI and GL were positively associated with a higher degree of carotid stenosis in these Chinese cerebral infarction patients, especially in younger patients and women. PMID: 32147606 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Utility of Hounsfield unit in the diagnosis of tandem occlusion in acute ischemic stroke
ConclusionDespite a significant difference in thrombus attenuation in MCA occlusions with an additional extracranial ICA occlusion compared with isolated MCA occlusions, a relevant threshold of thrombus attenuation was not found.

Interventional stroke treatment - Is it also safe for arteries? Looking at thrombectomy wall damage through clot histology.
CONCLUSIONS: The overall risk of arterial vessel wall injury aspiration thrombectomy was low in our study. Aspiration thrombectomy and the procedure related with a retrieving device together with an ischemia time longer than 6 hours may increase the risk of vessel injury through the thrombectomy procedure. Further investigations are necessary to elucidate the influence of the mentioned aspects. PMID: 33269973 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Thrombectomy for ischemic stroke with large vessel occlusion and concomitant subarachnoid hemorrhage
AbstractTo report our experience in treating one patient with nontraumatic subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) and concurrent acute ischemic stroke (AIS) due to large vessels occlusion (LVO). A man in his 50  s presented with acute right hemiparesis and aphasia. Brain CT showed a SAH in the left central sulcus; CT-angiography revealed a tandem occlusion of the left internal carotid artery and homolateral middle cerebral artery. He underwent an angiographic procedure with successful recanalization. Foll ow-up CT demonstrated a striatal-lenticular stroke without SAH progression. While the absolute contraindication to IVT during i...

P-042 Initial experience with tenecteplase as the intravenous thrombolytic of choice before mechanical thrombectomy for large vessel occlusion acute ischemic stroke
ConclusionIntravenous TNK in patients with LVOAIS is feasible, safe and effective. In our cohort from ‘real world’ patients, TNK was associated with lower need for MT, high recanalization rates and shorter hospitalization.Disclosures U. Ugur: None. S. Platko: None. D. Peters: None. Intraarterial urokinase for thrombus migration after mechanical thrombectomy for large vessel ischemic stroke
CONCLUSION: The results of this study suggest that intraarterial urokinase for MeVO with thrombus migration after MT may safely improve angiographic reperfusion.PMID:34939475 | DOI:10.1177/15910199211069464
