Pretreatment Advanced Imaging in Patients with Stroke Treated with IV Thrombolysis: Evaluation of a Multihospital Data Base BRAIN
CONCLUSIONS: Use of advanced imaging is increasing in patients treated with IV thrombolysis. While there were differences in outcomes among imaging groups, the clinical effect of advanced imaging remains unclear.

CT Perfusion Imaging in the Selection of Acute Stroke Patients to Undergo Emergent Carotid Endarterectomy
Severe acute stroke patients with critical carotid stenosis or occlusion without intracranial thrombus typically do not undergo emergent carotid thromboendarterectomy (CEA) because of the risk of reperfusion-related intracranial hemorrhage. Past studies have not consistently demonstrated benefit of early operative intervention. Cerebral computed tomography (CT), cervical and cerebral CT angiography (CTA), and cerebral CT perfusion (CTP) imaging may identify a subset of acute stroke patients without intracranial thrombus who may benefit from emergent CEA.

O-006 Analysis of Screened Patients from the Penumbra THERAPY Trial: Correlations of Clot Length Assessed by Thin-Section CT in a Sequential Series of Acute Stroke Patients
Conclusion This analysis further supports the idea of measuring hyperdense thrombus by use of thin-section NCCT. Occlusion site is a key predictor of clot length, which may explain the relative ineffectiveness of IV rtPA in more proximal anterior circulation large vessels. E-031 Treatment of Acute Ischemic Stroke Due to Thrombosis of Stenotic Atherosclerotic Lesions of the Posterior Circulation
Conclusion Endovascular treatment can be performed with high rates of technical success for AIS due to thrombosis at chronic atherosclerotic lesions. In spite of potential for poor outcomes, significant recovery of function is possible following treatment. Acute Stroke and Obstruction of the Extracranial Carotid Artery Combined with Intracranial Tandem Occlusion: Results of Interventional Revascularization
Conclusion Endovascular recanalization of acute cervical carotid artery occlusion was technically feasible in all patients, and resulted in high extra- and intracranial revascularization rates. A trend for favorable clinical outcome was seen in a higher TICI score, younger age, good collateral status, and combined IV rTPA and endovascular therapy.
