Impact of mitral versus aortic bioprosthetic valve position  on thromboembolism and bleeding risk in patients with atrial fibrillation
CONCLUSIONS: In Japanese patients with AF and bioprosthetic valves, thromboembolic risk does not differ on the basis of valve position. Bleeding risk is higher in patients with MV bioprostheses, although valve position itself might not be an independent predictor for bleeding.PMID:34716054 | DOI:10.1016/j.jjcc.2021.10.002

Long-term Follow-up Results after Flow Diverter Therapy Using the Pipeline Embolization Device for Large or Giant Unruptured Internal Carotid Artery Aneurysms: Single-center Retrospective Analysis in the Japanese Population
Neurol Med Chir (Tokyo). 2021 Oct 27. doi: 10.2176/nmc.oa.2021-0203. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTFlow diverter (FD) therapy using Pipeline embolization device (PED) has become an important alternative to treat internal carotid artery (ICA) aneurysms. Herein, we report the long-term outcome for 3 years after FD therapy using PED for ICA aneurysms in Japan. The patients who underwent angiographical and/or clinical follow-up for 3 years after the FD therapy using PED of large or giant unruptured ICA aneurysms from December 2012 at our university hospital are the subjects of this study. We retrospectively reviewed the in- an...

Non-High-Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol and Risk of Cardiovascular disease: the Japan Epidemiology Collaboration on Occupational Health Study
CONCLUSIONS: High non-HDL-C levels were associated with an increased risk of myocardial infarction. Moreover, high and low non-HDL-C levels were associated with a high risk of stroke and its subtypes among Japanese workers.PMID:34690212 | DOI:10.5551/jat.63118
