Spontaneous Spinal Epidural Hematoma in an Adult Patient with Complex Congenital Heart Disease
We report the case of a 27-year-old man who developed sudden upper back pain with no specific precipitant. Five days later, he visited our emergency department complaining of weakness in both lower limbs and dysuria. He had a history of intracardiac repair and a Blalock-Park procedure for an interrupted aortic arch and ventricular septal defect in infancy. Assessment of long-term cardiac adaptation in adult patients with type II atrial septal defect
ConclusionLong-term cardiac adaptation in ASD patients, with RV overfilling and LV underfilling, has a negative impact on systolic RV performance, a phenomenon which likely can be attributed to longitudinal dysfunction of the interventricular septum.Key Points• An LR shunt in type II ASD patients causes cardiac remodeling characterized by RV overfilling and conversely underfilling of the left ventricle.• At the long term, there is evidence of systolic dysfunction of the right ventricle in this group of patients.• Septal dysfunction underlies the observed impairment in RV function.

Stroke volume ratio derived from magnetic resonance imaging as an indicator of interventricular dyssynchrony predicts future cardiac event in patients with biventricular Fontan circulation

Scimitar Syndrome Repair in Adults: Intermediate-Term Results Using an Extracardiac Conduit
Conclusions Correction of scimitar syndrome with an extracardiac conduit can be easily and safely performed in adults, with excellent intermediate-term durability, without graft thrombi or stenosis. This technique avoids deep hypothermic circulatory arrest when the SV is short or enters the IVC in an unusually caudad location.

Early Wallerian Degeneration in a Neonate With Middle Carotid Artery Stroke
A 23-day-old girl with a history of transposition of the great arteries, ventricular septal defect, pulmonary stenosis, and placement of right modified Blalock-Taussig shunt complicated by thrombosis at age 9 days of life presented with episodes of upper extremity extension and gasping respirations concerning for seizure. Brain magnetic resonance imaging demonstrated an extensive, acute right middle carotid artery territory stroke with occlusion of the right proximal middle carotid artery. There was also a small left frontal stroke.

Simultaneous onset of myocardial infarction and ischemic stroke in a patient with atrial fibrillation: Multiple territory injury revealed on angiography and magnetic resonance
