Conclusion: Intracranial artery calcification is common in patients with ischemic cerebrovascular disease and the intracranial carotid artery is most frequently affected. Intracranial arterial calcifications might be associated with imaging markers of SVD and are highly correlated with WMHs, lacunes, and CMBs. A Novel Triple-Cell Two-Dimensional Model to Study Immune-Vascular Interplay in Atherosclerosis
Conclusions We have developed a co-culture model for the study of the immune-vascular interplay in atherosclerosis consisting of ECs, SMCs and an inflammatory compartment. In order to validate this model, we have demonstrated that the triple-cell 2D culture of ECs, SMCs, and THP-1 macrophage-like cells significantly alters the phenotype of ECs and SMCs within this culture in comparison with EC/SMC, EC/THP-1, or SMC/THP-1 double-cell cultures. Misdiagnoses and delay of diagnoses in Moyamoya angiopathy —a large Caucasian case series
ConclusionsThis is the first systematic report which shows that patients with MMA are at high risk to be falsely diagnosed and treated. Depiction of typical vascular abnormalities in angiopathy is essential. Normal CSF cell counts, negative oligoclonal bands, and lack of infratentorial lesions as well as gadolinium-positive T1 lesions on MRI may be red flags differentiating this vasculopathy from vasculitis and MS.

Juvenile Stroke.
CONCLUSION: The high rates of cryptogenic stroke and ESUS among patients with juvenile stroke indicate that uncertainties remain in the diagnosis and treatment of this entity. The identification of rare causes of juvenile stroke requires a major diagnostic effort. Which diagnostic tests are useful or necessary in which patients is a matter that is currently decided on an individual basis.
