Associations of Serum Testosterone and Sex Hormone-Binding Globulin With Incident Cardiovascular Events in Middle-Aged to Older Men
CONCLUSION: Men with lower total testosterone concentrations were not at increased risk for MI, stroke, HF, or MACE. Calculated free testosterone may be associated with risk for MACE. Men with lower SHBG concentrations have higher risk for MI but lower risk for IS and HF, with causality to be determined.PRIMARY FUNDING SOURCE: Western Australian Health Translation Network, Medical Research Future Fund, and Lawley Pharmaceuticals.PMID:34958606 | DOI:10.7326/M21-0551

Recurrent migraine with binocular transient vision loss associated with acute stroke: A case report
CONCLUSION: Recurrent migraine with TBVL can be associated with acute stroke. It thus merits urgent evaluation and referral to the relevant department for a better outcome.PMID:34917346 | PMC:PMC8646124 | DOI:10.1016/j.amsu.2021.103062

Efficacy and safety of clopidogrel and/or aspirin for ischemic stroke/transient ischemic attack: An overview of systematic reviews and meta-analysis
Conclusions: High-quality evidence suggested that clopidogrel plus aspirin was more efficient than monotherapy, although the risk for hemorrhagic stroke was relatively higher in combined therapy regimens lasting>1 month.

Clinical outcome in patients with end-stage heart failure who underwent continuous-flow left ventricular assist devices in a single center
CONCLUSIONS: We describe short-term clinical outcome of LVAD patients from a single center for the first time in Korea. With the newer generation LVAD and a dedicated team approach, improved clinical outcomes of LVAD for end-stage HF are expected.PMID:34871480 | DOI:10.3904/kjim.2021.088

Prognostic indicators for the onset of ischaemic versus haemorrhagic stroke in stable coronary artery disease
The incidence of stroke may be increased in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD). We aimed to investigate the specific risk factors for the development of ischaemic and haemorrhagic stroke in stable CAD patients. Patients with stable CAD were prospectively enrolled for future cardiovascular events in Taiwan. All the patients had received coronary interventions and were stable for least 1 month before enrolment. The incidence of ischaemic stroke was identified and confirmed by telephone and hospital records. Baseline characteristics, including demographic data, lipid profiles, medications, and biomarkers for pot...

The clinical and neuroradiological features of patients of coexisting atraumatic convexity subarachnoid hemorrhage and large artery atherosclerosis stroke: A retrospective observational study
Atraumatic convexity subarachnoid hemorrhage (c-SAH) concomitant with large artery atherosclerosis (LAA) stroke has been rarely discussed in the literature. Our aim in this study is to characterize the clinical and neuroradiological features of patients with LAA stroke and c-SAH. A retrospective study from a single institution was performed between January 2016 and June 2020. Only patients diagnosed with c-SAH and LAA stoke were included in this study. The clinical presentation and neuroimaging finding were summarized by our experienced neurologists. In total, 12 patients (8 men, 4 women), ranging in age from 45 to 7...
