Cerebral ultrasound abnormalities in offspring of women with C677T homozygous mutation in the MTHFR gene: a prospective study.
CONCLUSIONS: Our data confirmed a high incidence of cerebral abnormalities in neonates born to women with C677T homozygous mutation in the MTHFR gene. cUS at birth proved to be an effective screening tool or a diagnostic test, that should be routinely performed in babies born to mothers with known thrombotic predisposition. Meningeal Disease Masquerading as Transient Ischemic Attack
Conclusions: Our study confirmed that serious meningeal disease could present as TIA, but this disease was relatively uncommon among patients treated in a TIA clinic. The findings highlight the diagnostic value of MRI in patients with suspected TIA.

Potential of Magnetic Resonance-guided Focused Ultrasound for Intracranial Hemorrhage: An In Vivo Feasibility Study
Conclusions: Our results demonstrate the feasibility of fast, efficient, and safe thrombolysis in an in vivo porcine model of ICH and in 2 ex vivo models using a human skull, without introducing tPA. Future studies will further optimize parameters and assess the nature of sonication-mediated versus natural clot lysis, the risk of rebleeding, the potential effect on the adjacent parenchyma, and the chemical and toxicity profiles of resulting lysate particles.

Intracranial Arterial Dissection (P2.013)
CONCLUSIONS:IAD represent a substantial proportion of CAD and may be a frequently underdiagnosed cause of stroke. Intraparenchymal hemorrhage seemed to occur less frequently in our series than previously reported.Study Supported by:Disclosure: Dr. Dossi has nothing to disclose. Stroke Risk Factors, Subtypes, and 30-Day Case Fatality in Abuja, Nigeria (P1.121)
CONCLUSIONS: Although hypertension, obesity, diabetes mellitus, and atrial fibrillation were important stroke risk factors, in many patients, these were detected only after a stroke. While the commonest stroke subtype was cerebral infarction, observed in almost two-third of patients, SAH was associated with the highest case-fatality rate at 30 days of 44.4%. Larger population-based studies are planned.Study Supported by: nilDisclosure: Dr. Bwala has nothing to disclose.

Vitreous Hemorrhage as a Complication of IV-tPA Therapy in a Patient with Acute Stroke (P4.227)
CONCLUSIONS: To our knowledge, this is the first case report of vitreous hemorrhage following acute stroke therapy with IV-tPA. This underscores the risk of intraocular hemorrhage in patients with retinal neovascularization that could occur with other retinal vascular disorders such as diabetic retinopathy. The decision to proceed with IV-tPA in the presence of retinal neovascularization should be made on a case-by-case basis and further discussion with the patient.Disclosure: Dr. Shah has nothing to disclose. Impaired Cerebral Autoregulation Is Associated With Vasospasm and Delayed Cerebral Ischemia in Subarachnoid Hemorrhage Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— Dynamic cerebral autoregulation is impaired in the early days after SAH. Including autoregulation as part of the initial clinical and radiographic assessment may enhance our ability to identify patients at a high risk for developing secondary complications after SAH.

Neurovascular decoupling is associated with severity of cerebral amyloid angiopathy
Conclusions: Impaired blood flow responses in CAA are more evident using a task to activate the occipital lobe than the frontal lobe, consistent with the gradient of increasing vascular amyloid severity from frontal to occipital lobe seen in pathologic studies. Reduced fMRI responses in CAA are caused, at least partly, by impaired vascular reactivity, and are strongly correlated with other neuroimaging markers of CAA severity.

Changes in Cardiac Function and Cerebral Blood Flow in Relation to Peri/Intraventricular Hemorrhage in Extremely Preterm Infants
Conclusions: Cardiac function and CBF remain stable in very preterm neonates who do not develop P/IVH during the first 3 postnatal days. In very preterm neonates developing P/IVH during this period, lower systemic perfusion and CBF followed by an increase in these variables precede the development of P/IVH. Monitoring cardiac function and cerebral rSO2 may identify infants at higher risk for developing P/IVH before the bleeding occurs.
