Morbidity and Mortality Associated With Balloon Aortic Valvuloplasty: A National Perspective Structural Heart Disease
Conclusions— In a contemporary national registry, BAV is associated with significant morbidity and mortality that are similar to TAVR. With the substantial increase in BAV utilization and the continuous improvement in TAVR outcomes, these data have important implications to aid clinicians in the selection of appropriate BAV candidates.

Novel Rotational Speed Modulation System Used With Venoarterial Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation
Conclusions Our system enabled an increase in coronary arterial flow and a decrease in LV work load and afterload during VA-ECMO. The system offers the effects of VA-ECMO and an IABP in a single device.

A retrospective analysis of Impella use in all ‐comers: 1‐year outcomes
ConclusionFor patients with need for an Impella device, regardless of the indication, early implantation is associated with better in hospital and 1 year outcomes as compared to when the device is implanted late as a bailout.

Abstract P438: Cardio-Renal Anemia Syndrome in acute heart failure patients: An Observational data from “Gulf-CARE” Heart Failure Registry Session Title: Chronic Kidney Disease
Conclusions: In the setting of acute heart failure in CRAS patients LV function has no significant role in the incidence of in-hospital stroke, major bleeding and death.

Prognostic value of glucose metabolism for non-ST-segment elevation infarction patients with diabetes mellitus and single concomitant chronic total occlusion following primary percutaneous coronary intervention
Abstract Glucose metabolism status may play a predictive role in the severity of the complications among patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM). However, few studies have focused on the prognostic value of glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) and Homeostatic Model Assessment 2 for Insulin Resistance (HOMA2-IR) in patients with DM, non-ST-segment elevation infarction (NSTEMI), and single concomitant chronic total occlusion (CTO) following primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Short- and long-term prognostic value of HbA1c and HOMA2-IR in patients with DM with NSTEMI and single CTO who received primary percutan...

Culprit Vessel-Only Versus Multivessel Percutaneous Coronary Intervention in Patients With Cardiogenic Shock Complicating ST-Segment-Elevation Myocardial Infarction: A Collaborative Meta-Analysis Coronary Interventions
Conclusions— This meta-analysis of nonrandomized studies suggests that in patients with cardiogenic shock complicating ST-segment–elevation myocardial infarction, there may be no significant benefit with single-stage MV-PCI compared with CO-PCI. Given the limitations of observational data, randomized trials are needed to determine the role of MV-PCI in this setting.

Baseline characteristics, management practices, and long-term outcomes among patients with first presentation acute myocardial infarction in the Second Gulf Registry of Acute Coronary Events (Gulf RACE-2)
Conclusions First presentation AMI patients tend to be older and to have lower rates of risk factors. Adverse clinical outcomes such as congestive heart failure, reinfarction, cardiogenic shock and stroke were higher among patients with first presentation AMI compared to patients with previous history of ACS.

Is There Any Relationship between TSH Levels and Prognosis in Acute Coronary Syndrome?
Conclusions: In patients with acute coronary syndromes and TSH> 4 mIU/L at admission, worse prognosis was observed, with higher incidences of in-hospital combined events, cardiogenic shock and bleeding.Resumo Fundamento: Estudos pequenos t êm relacionado níveis mais elevados de hormônio tireoestimulante (TSH) a pior prognóstico em pacientes com síndrome coronariana aguda (SCA). Tal relação, no entanto, permanece incerta. Objetivo: Analisar os desfechos de pacientes com SCA, relacionando-os aos níveis de TSH medidos no setor d e emergência. Métodos: Estudo retrospectivo observacional incluindo 505 pacientes com...

Transcranial Doppler is an effective method in assessing cerebral blood flow patterns during peripheral venoarterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation
ConclusionsTCD appears to be an effective tool for indirect monitoring of CBF in patients with  ECMO with limited pulsatility. Axillary artery cannulation seems to provide higher cerebral flow rates without any difference in neurologic outcomes. Future studies may incorporate TCD into regulating ECMO flows to achieve physiologic CBF.
