Acute Myocardial Infarction in Severe Mental Illness: Prevalence, Clinical Outcomes, and Process of Care in U.S. Hospitalizations
ConclusionSchizophrenia and ONOP are the only SMI subtypes associated with adverse clinical outcomes after AMI. However, all patients with SMI were less likely to receive invasive management for AMI, with female gender and schizophrenia diagnosis being the strongest predictors of conservative management. A multidisciplinary approach between psychiatrists and cardiologists could improve the outcomes of this high-risk population.RésuméContexteLe trouble mental grave (TMG) est associé à une augmentation de la mortalité cardiovasculaire. Nous avons étudié la prévalence des patients atteints d’un TMG qui avaient subi ...

Acute Myocardial Infarction in Severe Mental Health Illness: prevalence, clinical outcomes and process of care in United States hospitalizations.
ConclusionSchizophrenia and ‘other non-organic psychoses’ are the only SMI subtypes associated with adverse clinical outcomes after AMI. However, all patients with SMI were less likely to receive invasive management for AMI, with women and schizophrenia diagnosis being the strongest predictors of conservative management. A multidisciplinary approach between psychiatrists and cardiologists could improve outcomes of this high-risk population.

Surgical Treatment of Atrial Fibrillation in Patients with Rheumatic Valve Disease
Objective: To assess heart rhythm and predictive factors associated with sinus rhythm after one year in patients with rheumatic valve disease undergoing concomitant surgical treatment of atrial fibrillation. Operative mortality, survival and occurrence of stroke after one year were also evaluated. Methods: Retrospective longitudinal observational study of 103 patients undergoing rheumatic mitral valve surgery and ablation of atrial fibrillation using uni- or bipolar radiofrequency between January 2013 and December 2014. Age, gender, functional class (NYHA), type of atrial fibrillati...

Thoracoscopic radiofrequency ablation for lone atrial fibrillation: Box-lesion technique
Conclusion The thoracoscopic box-lesion ablation procedure is a safe, effective, and minimally invasive method for the treatment of isolated (lone) AF. This procedure provided excellent short-term freedom from AF.

Bipolar disorder, ischemic stroke, mitral valve vegetation and recurrent venous thrombosis due to antiphospholipid syndrome despite rivaroxaban
Antiphospholipid syndrome(APS) is an autoimmune disorder. The diagnostic criteria comprise clinical criteria - vascular thrombosis or pregnancy morbidity - together with laboratory criterion: lupus anticoagulant, anticardiolipin(aCL) antibody of immunoglobulin(Ig)G/IgM isotype or anti-β2-glycoprotein-I antibody of IgG/M isotype [1].

Non-invasive hemodynamic analysis in cardiac resynchronization therapy patients wearing quadripolar left ventricular leads: the importance of pacing electrode selection.
CONCLUSION: Our study demonstrates that different bipolar pacing configurations, even if arising from a single CS branch, substantially modify the hemodynamic effect of LV pacing in CRT patients. Moreover, the non-invasive hemodynamic analysis suggests the better pacing configuration should be established individually and could represent an important issue in optimizing CRT during follow-up. Stroke prevention following modified endoscopic ablation and appendectomy for atrial fibrillation
We reported the results of stroke prevention following modified endoscopic procedure for atrial fibrillation. 82 patients underwent modified endoscopic procedure for atrial fibrillation (AF), in whom 47 had paroxysmal, 28 had persistent, and 7 had long-standing atrial fibrillation. CHA2DS2VASC median score was 3 (range from 0 to 8). The procedure was performed on the beating heart, through 3 ports on the left chest wall. Pulmonary vein isolation and ablation of the left atrium were achieved by bipolar radiofrequency ablation. Left atrial appendage (LAA) was excluded by stapler. Brain CT, cardiac CT and 24-h Holter monitori...

The Use of Quadripolar Left Ventricular Leads Improves the Hemodynamic Response to Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy
ConclusionsThe quadripolar LV lead was associated with a better hemodynamic response and higher CRT responder rates when compared with unipolar‐simulated and bipolar LV leads.

Long-Term Follow-Up Shows Excellent Transmural Atrial Lead Performance in Patients With Complex Congenital Heart Disease Original Articles
Conclusions— TMA pacing leads had excellent longevity, initial, and chronic functional properties and provide an alternative to epicardial leads in patients with congenital heart disease. Patients who cannot receive transvenous leads, have epicardial scarring or have intra-atrial re-entrant tachycardia could benefit most from routine use of this technique.

Microembolism and Catheter Ablation I: A Comparison of Irrigated Radiofrequency and Multielectrode-phased Radiofrequency Catheter Ablation of Pulmonary Vein Ostia Original Articles
Conclusions— Left atrial ablation with irrigated radiofrequency and PVAC catheters in swine is associated with microbubble and microembolus production. Avoiding overlap of electrodes 1 and 10 on PVAC should reduce the microembolic burden associated with this procedure.
