Case report: Heterozygous mutation in HTRA1 causing typical cerebral autosomal recessive arteriopathy with subcortical infarcts and leukoencephalopathy
Conclusion: This case suggests that patients carrying a heterozygous mutation in G905A may also have typical clinical features of CARASIL, which allows us to have a more comprehensive understanding of CARASIL.

The Piano Man: A Case Report of Anterior Thalamic Infarct with Dementia and Preserved Music Ability
CONCLUSIONS: The case has implications for understanding the complex integrative functions of the thalamus, including how profound impairment can simultaneously present with cognitive strengths that may not be captured by performance on neuropsychological testing. This case also suggests that magnetic resonance imaging may be indicated in cases presenting with vascular risk factors and sudden onset cognitive impairment, given that computed tomography may not be sensitive to small subcortical infarcts.PMID:37699427 | DOI:10.1093/arclin/acad069

Sleep Architecture, Obstructive Sleep Apnea, and Cognitive Function in Adults
CONCLUSIONS AND RELEVANCE: This study found that better sleep consolidation and the absence of OSA were associated with better global cognition over 5 years of follow-up. These findings suggest that the role of interventions to improve sleep for maintaining cognitive function requires investigation.PMID:37462968 | DOI:10.1001/jamanetworkopen.2023.25152

Assessment of cheese sign and its association with vascular risk factors: Data from PUMCH dementia cohort
CONCLUSIONS: The risk factors for cheese sign were hypertension, age, and stroke. Cheese sign consists of BGH, PVS, and lacunae/infarction.PMID:37415546 | DOI:10.1097/CM9.0000000000002785

Cerebral ischemic injury after transcatheter aortic valve replacement in patients with pure aortic regurgitation
J Zhejiang Univ Sci B. 2023 Jun 15;24(6):530-538. doi: 10.1631/jzus.B2200444.ABSTRACTConsidering the surgical risk stratification for patients with severe calcific aortic stenosis (AS), transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is a reliable alternative to surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR) (Fan et al., 2020, 2021; Lee et al., 2021). Despite the favorable clinical benefits of TAVR, stroke remains a dreaded perioperative complication (Auffret et al., 2016; Kapadia et al., 2016; Kleiman et al., 2016; Huded et al., 2019). Ischemic overt stroke, identified in 1.4% to 4.3% of patients in TAVR clinical practice, has be...
