Neurological Involvement in Primary Systemic Vasculitis
Conclusion
Neurological involvement is a common complication of PSV (Table 1), and neurologists play an important role in the identification and diagnosis of PSV patients with otherwise unexplained neurological symptoms as their chief complaint. This article summarizes the neurological manifestations of PSV and hopes to improve neuroscientists' understanding of this broad range of diseases.

Etiology and Outcomes of Thrombotic Microangiopathies.
CONCLUSIONS: Secondary thrombotic microangiopathies represent the majority of thrombotic microangiopathies. Multiple thrombotic microangiopathies causes are present in one half of secondary thrombotic microangiopathies. The risks of dialysis, neurologic and cardiac complications, and death vary by the cause of thrombotic microangiopathies.

Successful Peritoneal Dialysis Catheter Placement in a New End-Stage Renal Disease Patient with Combined Antiphospholipid Syndrome and Factor XI Deficiency.
We present the case of a 68-year-old woman with combined antiphospholipid syndrome and factor XI deficiency, with chronic prolongation of activated partial thromboplastin time that was not correctable with fresh-frozen plasma (FFP).The patient had a history of stroke, but was not on antiplatelet therapy because of mucocutaneous bleeding events. She had progressive renal failure attributed to her autoimmune disease, and a decision was made to pursue peritoneal dialysis (PD) when she reached end-stage kidney disease. She was admitted to the hospital the day before her planned PD catheter placement and was transfused with FFP...

Regulation of the epithelial Na+ channel by the mTORC2/SGK1 pathway
The epithelial Na+ channel (ENaC) is decisive for sodium reabsorption by the aldosterone-sensitive distal nephron (ASDN) of the kidney. ENaC is regulated by the serum- and glucocorticoid-inducible kinase 1 (SGK1), a kinase genomically upregulated by several hormones including glucocorticoids and mineralocorticoids. SGK1 is activated by the serine/threonine kinase mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) isoform mTORC2. SGK1 knockout (sgk1–/– mice) impairs renal Na+ retention during salt depletion. The mTOR catalytic site inhibitor, PP242, but not mTORC1 inhibitor rapamycin, inhibits ENaC, decreases Na+ flux in isol...
