Self-reported efficacy in patient-physician interaction in relation to anxiety, patient activation, and health-related quality of life among stroke survivors
CONCLUSIONS: Higher self-efficacy in patient-physician interaction was associated with higher patient activation and mental health status among stroke survivors using smartwatches. Furthermore, we found no association between anxiety and smartwatch prescription for AF in participants with high self-efficacy in patient-physician interaction. Efforts to improve self-efficacy in patient-physician interaction may improve patient activation and self-rated health and subsequently may lead to better clinical outcomes.KEY MESSAGESHigher self-efficacy in patient-physician interaction was associated with higher patient activation an...

L-proline transporter inhibitor (LQFM215) promotes neuroprotection in ischemic stroke
CONCLUSIONS: This dataset suggests that the new compounds inhibit cerebral L-proline uptake and that LQFM215 promotes neuroprotection and neuro-repair in the acute ischemic stroke model.PMID:36719635 | DOI:10.1007/s43440-023-00451-x

IJERPH, Vol. 20, Pages 2410: Sleep Quality and Cognitive Function after Stroke: The Mediating Roles of Depression and Anxiety Symptoms
This study examined the association between post-stroke cognitive function and sleep status at 30 days post-stroke and evaluated the role of anxiety and depression as potential mediators of that association. The participants in this study were 530 acute ischemic stroke (IS) patients. Sleep disturbance at 30 days post-stroke was assessed by the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index. Basic patient information, cognitive function, depression, and anxiety status were assessed before discharge from the hospital. Stratified linear regression analysis models were fit to examine the associations between post-stroke sleep quality and the ...

In 2001, after a baby died while she was on duty, a colleague told superiors that De Berk had been present at a suspiciously high number of deaths and resuscitations. Hospital staff immediately informed the police. When investigators reexamined records from De Berk’s shifts, they found 10 suspicious incidents. Three other hospitals where D...
