Temporal trends in anticoagulation use and clinical outcomes among medicare beneficiaries with non-valvular atrial fibrillation
ConclusionsThe proportions of patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation who were not prescribed an oral anticoagulant decreased but remained high. We observed an increase in direct oral anticoagulant use that coincided with decreased incidence of clinical outcomes as well as decreasing total healthcare costs.

Ticagrelor or Clopidogrel as Antiplatelet Agents in Patients with Chronic Kidney Disease and Cardiovascular Disease: A Meta-analysis
ConclusionsWhen compared with clopidogrel, even though ticagrelor was not associated with higher risk of adverse cardiovascular outcomes in these patients with CKD, it was associated with significantly higher BARC bleeding. Therefore, the safety outcomes of ticagrelor still require further evaluation in patients with CKD. Nevertheless, this hypothesis should only be confirmed with more powerful results that could usually only be achieved using large-scale randomized trials.

Short-term DAPT after coronary stenting has similar ischemic and bleeding outcomes as long-term DAPT: a 5-year population-based cohort study
ConclusionThere is no significant difference in both bleeding and ischemic outcomes in long-term DAPT as compared to short-term DAPT for first- and second-generation drug-eluting stents in a real-world population.

Clinical profiles and one-year outcome in middle eastern patients with atrial fibrillation and major bleeding events. The Jordan atrial fibrillation study
Background and Aims: Oral anticoagulant agents (OACs) reduce the risk of stroke and systemic embolism (SE) in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) but may increase the risk of major bleeding (MB) events. There is a scarcity of studies that address the incidence, predictors, and outcomes of bleeding events in AF patients in the Middle East. This contemporary multicenter study sought to evaluate in detail the bleeding events and predictors of these events

A Case Report of  Profuse Bleeding in the Lower Gastrointestinal Tract due to Dieulafoy Lesion in the Rectum
Acta Med Indones. 2023 Apr;55(2):201-204.ABSTRACTDieulafoy lesion is a rare condition that usually occurs in cases of gastric bleeding in the upper gastrointestinal tract. However, this condition can also occur in the lower gastrointestinal tract but less frequently. The lesion is an arteriolar malformation that extends to the submucosa, causing erosion and bleeding. Meanwhile, this is a case of a 67-year-old woman presenting with a bright red bloody stool prior to admission, as well as a history of constipation which was relieved by digital stool evacuation two weeks earlier. The medical history of the patient reveals epi...

Low-dose intravenous recombinant tissue plasminogen activator in acute ischemic stroke without large vessel occlusion screened by 3T MRI
CONCLUSIONS: Our study indicates the efficacy and safety of low-dose rTPA treatment for AIS without LVO within 4.5 hours. Patient selection for rTPA by 3T MRI decreased complications and mortality.PMID:37522667 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202307_33126
