Clinical outcomes of patients treated using very short duration dual antiplatelet therapy after implantation of biodegradable-polymer drug-eluting stents: rationale and design of a prospective multicenter REIWA registry
This study is an observational, prospective, multicenter registry encompassing the entire local medical region of Iwate Prefecture (northern area of mainland Japan). A total of 1200 patients who underwent successful PCI with a novel thin strut BP-DES (Synergy, Ultimaster or Orsiro) and are considered to be appropriate patients for very short DAPT, are registered and subsequently administered 1-month DAPT followed by P2Y12 inhibitor monotherapy (clopidogr el 75 mg/day or prasugrel 3.75 mg/day). Effects of Body Weight on Bleeding and Ischemic Events in Patients Undergoing Percutaneous Coronary Intervention - From the CREDO-Kyoto Registry Cohort-2.
CONCLUSIONS: Cumulative incidences of bleeding and ischemic events increased incrementally as BW decreased in both men and women. The adjusted risks of underweight relative to overweight for bleeding and ischemic events were significant only in women.

Clinical Outcomes of Off-Label Underdosing of Direct Oral Anticoagulants After Ablation for Atrial Fibrillation.
In conclusion, the clinical adverse event rates for patients on an off-label under-dose DOAC regimen after ablation, predicated on careful patient evaluations, was not high as seen with that of patients on a standard DOAC dosing regimen.

A Comparative Prospective Observational Study on the Use of Direct Oral Anticoagulants after Cardiac Surgery for the Management of Atrial Fibrillation.
CONCLUSION: DOAC as anticoagulation therapy for the early intervention of POAF following cardiac surgery is associated with a low incidence of major bleeding; a favorable safety profile and excellent efficacy were demonstrated for DOAC. Furthermore, our results indicate that the safety and efficacy of apixaban and edoxaban are better than rivaroxaban.

Impact of bridge-to-bridge strategies from paracorporeal to implantable left ventricular assist devices on the pre-heart transplant outcome: A single-center analysis of 134 cases.
CONCLUSIONS: The BTB strategy is useful in providing long-term survival in patients with acute critical diseases. However, the early mortality rate after conversion is higher in patients who underwent the BTB strategy.

Can the intermittent low-speed function of left ventricular assist device prevent aortic insufficiency?
In this study, the Jarvik 2000 device, which is programmed to reduce the pump speed each minute for 8 s, was chosen to examine this potential effect. Prospectively collected data of 85 heart transplant-eligible Jarvik 2000 recipients who met the study criteria (no pre-existing AI and aortic valve surgery) were retrospectively analyzed for the incidence, correlating factors, and clinical outcomes o f de novo AI. Impact of Frailty on Bleeding Events Related to Anticoagulation Therapy in Patients With Atrial Fibrillation.
CONCLUSIONS: Frailty is associated with increased bleeding events related to anticoagulant therapy in patients previously hospitalized with AF. Greater care should be taken with patients with a CHS frailty index ≥2.

Ischemic/bleeding event after short dual-antiplatelet therapy in patients with high bleeding risk: Sub-analysis of the MODEL U-SES study
CONCLUSION: In contemporary PCI practice, nearly half of patients had HBR and presence of HBR significantly increased risk of ischemic/thrombotic events. Different Determinants of the Recurrence of Atrial Fibrillation and Adverse Clinical Events in the Mid-Term Period After Atrial Fibrillation Ablation
CONCLUSIONS: This study disclosed different determinants of post-ablation recurrence and AEs. Female sex, persistent AF, and enlarged LAd were determinants of post-ablation recurrence, whereas an old age, comorbidities, and LV and renal dysfunction rather than post-ablation recurrence were AEs determinants.
