Outcomes of Concomitant Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting in Patients With Infective Endocarditis: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
It is current practice to perform concomitant coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) in patients with infective endocarditis who have relevant coronary artery disease. However, CABG may add complexity to the operation. We performed a systematic review and a meta-analysis of studies that presented outcomes from patients who underwent valve surgery because of infective endocarditis with or without concomitant CABG. Three databases were assessed. Perioperative mortality was the primary outcome. Long-term mortality and postoperative stroke were the secondary outcomes.

Contemporary demographics, diagnostics and outcomes in non-bacterial thrombotic endocarditis
Conclusions NBTE was more prevalent in females and embolic complications were the most frequent clinical finding. Overall, patients with NBTE had a poor prognosis, particularly in those with lung cancer or metastatic tumours. Further studies in patients with NBTE are needed given its morbidity and mortality.

Temporal trends in incidence, patient characteristics, microbiology and in-hospital mortality in patients with infective endocarditis: a contemporary analysis of 86,469 cases between 2007 and 2019
ConclusionsIn this contemporary cohort, incidence of IE increased over time and in-hospital mortality remained high (~  15%). Whilestaphylococcus andstreptococcus were the predominant microorganisms, bacteremia withstaphylococcus and Gram-negative pathogens were associated with higher likelihood of in-hospital mortality. Long-term outcomes of mechanical versus biological valve prosthesis in native mitral valve infective endocarditis
Conclusion. The use of mechanical mitral valve prosthesis is associated with lower long-term mortality compared to the biological prosthesis in non-elder native mitral valve infective endocarditis patients.
