Is cervical dysplasia a major concern in women with inflammatory bowel disease? A Spanish retrospective study
Rev Esp Enferm Dig. 2023 Sep 21. doi: 10.17235/reed.2023.9890/2023. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCervical cancer (CC) is the fourth most common cancer affecting women worldwide. The risk of women immunosuppressed due to AIDS or organ transplantation is well documented, as most cases are caused by persistent human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and immunosuppression can prevent clearing HPV. Although European guidelines advise that inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) women under immunosuppression should be screened for CC as regularly as high-risk patients, quality evidence is lacking in our country. We performed a retrospect...

Effectiveness and safety of REBACIN as a non-invasive intervention for persistent high-risk human papillomavirus infection: A real-world prospective multicenter cohort study
CONCLUSION: This study confirmed that REBACIN can effectively and safely eliminate persistent hrHPV infection, which the clearance rate of HPV16/18 is higher than that of HPV52/58, the clearance rate of single-type infection is higher than that of multiple-type infections, and the clearance rate in young patients is higher than that in elder patients, providing a guidance for REBACIN application in clearing hrHPV persistent infection in real-world settings.CLINICAL TRIAL REGISTRATION: Chinese Clinical Trial Registry Registration Number: ChiCTR1800015617 http://www.chictr.org.cn/showproj.aspx?proj=26529 Date of Registration...

Neuroendocrine carcinoma of the cervix: About a rare case and literature review
CONCLUSION: To improve the survival of patients with large-cell neuroendocrine carcinomas of the uterine cervix, it is imperative to conduct multicenter clinical trials aimed at defining an effective, standardized treatment.PMID:37729821 | DOI:10.1016/j.ijscr.2023.108835

Determinants of Low-Income Women's Participation in Self-Collected Samples for Cervical Cancer Detection: Application of the Theory of Planned Behavior
CONCLUSIONS: The key predictors for LIW's intention for self-sampling included attitudes and subjective norms. Future research should use the TPB as a framework to examine whether intention predicts self-sampling behavior among LIW.PMID:37724032 | DOI:10.1177/0272684X221090060

Bioinformatics-based analysis of core genes and pathway enrichment in early diabetic nephropathy
Cell Mol Biol (Noisy-le-grand). 2023 Jul 31;69(7):51-56. doi: 10.14715/cmb/2023.69.7.9.ABSTRACTDiabetic nephropathy (DN) is the main cause of end-stage renal disease (ESRD). Bioinformatics technology was adopted to screen and analyze the core genes of early DN to explore its pathogenesis. GSE30528, GSE96804, and GSE30122 chip data were obtained from Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database to screen DN and healthy controls for differentially expressed genes. Gene Ontology (GO), Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) for functional annotation and signaling pathway enrichment; String and Cytoscape were used for protein...

European consensus statement on expert colposcopy
DISCUSSION: The agreed standards included colposcopy in pregnancy and post-menopause, investigation and management of glandular abnormalities, persistent high-risk HPV+ with normal/low-grade cytology, colposcopy management of type 3 transformation zones (TZ), high-grade cytology and normal colposcopy, colposcopy adjuncts, follow-up after treatment with CIN next to TZ margins and follow-up after treatment with CIN with persistent HPV+, and more. These standards are under review to create a final paper of consensus standards for dissemination to all EFC and ESGO members.PMID:37716200 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejogrb.2023.08.369

An updated systemic review and meta-analysis on human papillomavirus in breast carcinogenesis
CONCLUSION: Current study provides a global estimate of HPV prevalence in BC patients and demonstrates a significant association between this virus and BC etiology. Nevertheless, we recommend further investigation into the underlying mechanism is essential to validate this hypothesis.PMID:37711194 | PMC:PMC10498127 | DOI:10.3389/fonc.2023.1219161
