MMWR Morb Mortal Wkly Rep. 2023 Aug 25;72(34):912-919. doi: 10.15585/mmwr.mm7234a3.ABSTRACTThree vaccines are routinely recommended for adolescents to prevent pertussis, meningococcal disease, and cancers caused by human papillomavirus (HPV). Public Awareness About Sexually Transmitted Diseases in Taif, Saudi Arabia
CONCLUSION: This study shed light on the limited knowledge and misconceptions surrounding STDs in Taif city. The findings highlighted knowledge gaps, including confusion between different STDs and misconceptions about transmission modes. The results revealed a positive correlation between higher maternal education and increased knowledge scores. These findings underscore the urgency for health authorities to develop awareness campaigns and educational initiatives to promote accurate information and foster healthier attitudes toward sexual activity in these regions.PMID:37609085 | PMC:PMC10441818 | DOI:10.7759/cureus.42302

Immune landscape and oncobiota in HPV-Associated Colorectal Cancer: an explorative study
Clin Exp Med. 2023 Aug 23. doi: 10.1007/s10238-023-01165-3. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTWorldwide more than 550,000 new patients suffering from malignant tumors are associated with human papillomaviruses (HPV) infection. However, only a small portion of patients infected progress to cancer, suggesting that other factors other than HPV may play a role. Some studies have investigated HPV infection in colorectal cancer (CRC) with discordant results; moreover, the role of HPV in CRC development is still unknown. We investigated HPV infection in 50 CRC from different regions, excluding the anal one, by immunohistochemistry (I...

Timing of Colposcopy and Risk of Cervical Cancer
CONCLUSION: There was no difference in cervical cancer risk at more than 1 year between patients who received colposcopy within 3 months compared with those who received colposcopy within 3-12 months of an abnormal result. Patients who did not receive colposcopy within 12 months of an abnormal result had a higher risk of subsequent cervical cancer compared with those who received a colposcopy within 12 months.PMID:37607530 | DOI:10.1097/AOG.0000000000005313
