Environmental characterization of home range of Antillean manatees (Trichechus manatus) released in northeastern Brazil
This study characterized the home range areas of six rehabilitated manatees released in northeastern Brazil. The activities were conducted in the states of Paraíba, Sergipe, and Bahia. Type of environment, substrate, depth, aquatic vegetation, physicochemical variables of the water, presence of solid waste, human settlements, and watercraft were considered to characterize the areas. The results showed a manatee preference for sheltered areas. This study aimed to analyze the self-reported health conditions of asylum seekers in the municipality of Rio de Janeiro from 2010 to 2017. This is a cross-sectional study with secondary data. Microbiological evaluation of homemade mayonnaise and self-serve acai sold in Aragua ína, Tocantins
In this study, samples of homemade spiced mayonnaise and self-serve acai sold in the city of Araguaína, Tocantins, Brazil were analyzed for microbiological contaminants. Acai was collected from 10 stores, one sample from each store, and tested for mold, yeast, and coliforms, as well as coliform identification and total and thermotolerant coliform counts. Unonopsis guatterioides: morphological and chemical characteristics of its fruits and seeds, and germination processes under experimental conditions
This study aimed to evaluate the morphometry of seeds and fruits, their chemical composition, and the germination at different temperatures using seeds subjected to tegumentary dormancy break from fruits collected in a semi-deciduous seasonal forests in Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. The fruits under ripening showed a higher number of secondary metabolites and higher phenolic compounds. Morphometry results indicated that most seeds have length between 3.5 and 5.6 (81.3%), width between 8.1 and 9.0 mm (85.0%) and average weight of 0.28 g.
