The regulation of circRNA and lncRNAprotein binding in cardiovascular diseases: Emerging  therapeutic targets
Biomed Pharmacother. 2023 Jun 29;165:115067. doi: 10.1016/j.biopha.2023.115067. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTNoncoding ribonucleic acids (ncRNAs) are a class of ribonucleic acids (RNAs) that carry cellular information and perform essential functions. This class encompasses various RNAs, such as small nuclear ribonucleic acids (snRNA), small interfering ribonucleic acids (siRNA) and many other kinds of RNA. Of these, circular ribonucleic acids (circRNAs) and long noncoding ribonucleic acids (lncRNAs) are two types of ncRNAs that regulate crucial physiological and pathological processes, including binding, in several organs...

Neocryptotanshinone ameliorates insufficient energy production in heart failure by targeting retinoid X receptor alpha
In conclusion, we confirmed that NCTS improves myocardial energy metabolism, including fatty acid oxidation and mitochondrial biogenesis, by regulating the RXRα/PPARα pathway in mice with HF post-AMI.PMID:37201263 | DOI:10.1016/j.biopha.2023.114868

A-kinase anchoring protein 5-ancored calcineurin regulates the remodeling of H9c2 cardiomyocytes exposed to hypoxia and reoxygenation
CONCLUSIONS: AKAP5 downregulation aggravated the remodeling of cardiomyocytes after H/R. AKAP5 may anchor CaN to form a complex, which in turn activates NFATc3 dephosphorylation and expression of hypertrophy-related proteins.PMID:36115111 | DOI:10.1016/j.biopha.2022.113689

Dexmedetomidine attenuates myocardial ischemia/reperfusion-induced ferroptosis via AMPK/GSK-3 β/Nrf2 axis
In conclusion, Dex protects hearts against MIRI-induced ferroptosis via activation of Nrf2 through AMPK/GSK-3β signaling pathway.PMID:35988428 | DOI:10.1016/j.biopha.2022.113572

β-elemene blocks lipid-induced inflammatory pathways via PPARβ activation in heart failure
This study aims to investigate the effects of β-elemene on a mouse model of heart failure (HF) and to elucidate the underlying mechanisms in vitro approaches. In this study, left anterior descending (LAD)-induced HF mouse model and oxygen-glucose deprivation/recovery (OGD/R)-induced H9C2 model were leveraged to assess the therapeutic effects of β-elemene. Histological examination, western blot and quantitative real-time PCR analysis (RT-qPCR) and immunofluorescence staining was utilized to elucidate mechanism of β-elemene in lipid-induced inflammation. Results showed that β-elemene improved heart function in HF mice ev...

Protective effect of MAPK signaling pathway mediated by ITGB3 gene silencing on myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury in mice and its mechanism.
CONCLUSIONS: Silencing ITGB3 gene expression can promote the activation of MAPK signaling pathway, elevate the phosphorylation of GSK-3β and Cx43 in the downstream, promote the proliferation of mouse myocardial cells, inhibit myocardial cell apoptosis and inflammatory reaction, and thus have protective effect on MIRI in mice. Melatonin promotes cardiomyocyte proliferation and heart repair in mice with myocardial infarction via miR-143-3p/Yap/Ctnnd1 signaling pathway.
In this study, we investigated whether melatonin regulated cardiomyocyte proliferation and promoted cardiac repair in mice with myocardial infarction (MI), which was induced by ligation of the left anterior descending coronary artery. We showed that melatonin administration significantly improved the cardiac functions accompanied by markedly enhanced cardiomyocyte proliferation in MI mice. In neonatal mouse cardiomyocytes, treatment with melatonin (1 μM) greatly suppressed miR-143-3p levels. Silencing of miR-143-3p stimulated cardiomyocytes to re-enter the cell cycle. On the contrary, overexpression of miR-143-3p inhibi...

CircRNA 010567 improves myocardial infarction rats through inhibiting TGF- β1.
CONCLUSIONS: CircRNA 010567 siRNA can improve the cardiac function, alleviate the MF, and inhibit the myocardial apoptosis, thereby further suppressing MI-induced MF, whose mechanism may be related to the inhibition on the TGF-β1 signaling pathway. PMID: 31957851 [PubMed - in process]

LncRNA MALAT1 knockdown alleviates myocardial apoptosis in rats with myocardial ischemia-reperfusion through activating PI3K/AKT signaling pathway.
CONCLUSIONS: The MALAT1 knockdown can markedly improve the I/R-induced myocardial injury and promote the cardiac function of rats, whose mechanism may be related to the activation of the AKT signaling pathway by MALAT1 siRNA. Therefore, lncRNA MALAT1 is expected to be a new therapeutic target for myocardial I/R injury. PMID: 31841208 [PubMed - in process]
