The effect of silencing the Tip60 gene on the response to radiotherapy in breast cancer cells
In this study, for the first time, the role of the silenced and active Tip60 gene in response to radiotherapy in MDA-MB-231 and MCF-7 cells was investigated. For this purpose, the Tip60 gene was silenced by applying siRNA to the cell lines and UV was applied. In the study, cytotoxicity and DNA breaks were measured by MTT and COMET methods, and mRNA and protein expression values were measured by PCR and Raman spectrophotometer in silenced, unsilenced, UV-treated, and non-UV-treated cell lines. According to the results of the study, increased DNA damage was observed in MCF-7 cell lines in which the Tip60 gene was silenced, a...

Cancers, Vol. 14, Pages 4123: Recent Trends in Nanomedicine-Based Strategies to Overcome Multidrug Resistance in Tumors
lin Cancer is the leading cause of economic and health burden worldwide. The commonly used approaches for the treatment of cancer are chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgery. Chemotherapy frequently results in undesirable side effects, and cancer cells may develop resistance. Combating drug resistance is a challenging task in cancer treatment. Drug resistance may be intrinsic or acquired and can be due to genetic factors, growth factors, the increased efflux of drugs, DNA repair, and the metabolism of xenobiotics. The strategies used to combat drug resistance include the nanomedicine-based targeted delivery of drugs an...

Potential therapeutic strategies for targeting Y-box-binding protein 1 in cancers
Curr Cancer Drug Targets. 2021 Aug 31. doi: 10.2174/1568009621666210831125001. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAs one of the most conservative proteins in evolution, Y-box-binding protein 1 (YB-1) has long been considered as a potential cancer target. YB-1 is usually poorly expressed in normal cells and exerts cellular physiological functions such as DNA repair, pre-mRNA splicing and mRNA stabilizing. In cancer cells, the expression of YB-1 is up-regulated and undergoes nuclear translocation and contributes to tumorigenesis, angiogenesis, tumor proliferation, invasion, migration and chemotherapy drug resistance. During the p...
