siRNA drug delivery across the blood-brain barrier in Alzheimer's Disease
Adv Drug Deliv Rev. 2023 Jun 21:114968. doi: 10.1016/j.addr.2023.114968. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAlzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease with a few FDA-approved drugs that provide modest symptomatic benefits and only two FDA-approved disease-modifying treatments for AD. The advancements in understanding the causative genes and non-coding sequences at the molecular level of the pathophysiology of AD have resulted in several exciting research papers that employed small interfering RNA (siRNA)-based therapy. Although siRNA is being sought by academia and biopharma industries, several challeng...

Molecules, Vol. 28, Pages 4569: The Transport and Uptake of Resveratrol Mediated via Glucose Transporter 1 and Its Antioxidant Effect in Caco-2 Cells
This study investigated the role of resveratrol in the uptake, transport, and alleviation of H2O2-induced oxidative damage in Caco-2 cells. In the Caco-2 cell transport model, it was observed that the uptake and transport of resveratrol (10, 20, 40, and 80 μM) were time dependent and concentration dependent. Different temperatures (37 °C vs. 4 °C) could significantly affect the uptake and transportation of resveratrol. The apical to basolateral transport of resveratrol was markedly reduced by STF-31, a GLUT1 inhibitor, and siRNA intervention. Furthermore, resveratrol pretreatment (80 &...

Implementing an Innovative Lipid Management Technique Using siRNA LDL-C Lowering Therapy: Lessons Learned in an NHS Primary Care Practice With Worked Case Examples
CONCLUSIONS: Enhanced lipid management as a secondary prevention measure is achievable in line with national guidance and objectives. The methodology and education/training processes used in combination with reconstructing the management process can help practice staff realize the program benefits, which in turn can lead to a shift in behavior where all staff embed manual case-finding of high-risk patients into everyday consultations and reviews; enabling rapid identification of eligible patients. Taking a multi-disciplinary, holistic approach to new initiatives reduces service burden, particularly for GPs. Leveraging reso...

Conclusion: These assays are suitable for routine diagnostic. The UltraFast NextGenPCR is the fastest with average time (30mins), followed by Agilent (2 hrs) and MassArray (6hrs). Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to examine, measure and compare results from different assays for SARS detection, evaluate and diagnose accurately, as well as being able to plan, organize and recommend a diagnostic procedure for diagnostic laboratory. Key words: SARS-CoV-2, RNA extraction, RT-PCR, limit of detection, quantification cycle, COVID-19, in vitro diagnostic tests, Agilent, Massarray, Ultrafast. [20] From t...
