lncRNA WT1-AS is upregulated in osteoporosis and regulates the apoptosis of osteoblasts by interacting with p53
Exp Ther Med. 2021 Jul;22(1):734. doi: 10.3892/etm.2021.10166. Epub 2021 May 9.ABSTRACTIn cervical cancer, cellular tumor antigen p53 (p53) interacts with long non-coding WT1 antisense RNA (WT1-AS) and this protein serves an important role in osteoporosis. The present study aimed to investigate the role of WT1-AS in osteoporosis. WT1-AS was upregulated in the plasma of patients with osteoporosis and was positively correlated with p53 expression. Altered expression of WT1-AS and p53 separated patients with osteoporosis from healthy controls. Expression levels of WT1-AS and p53 decreased with prolonged treatment. In osteobla...

Upregulated expression of MNX1-AS1 long noncoding RNA predicts poor prognosis in gastric cancer.
In this study, we investigated the clinicopathological significance and biological function of MNX1-AS1 in gastric cancer (GC). The expression of MNX1-AS1 was analyzed by qRT-PCR in 96 GC and adjacent non-tumor tissues in relation to clinicopathological features and overall survival (OS) of patients, and in five human GC cell lines compared to a normal gastric epithelial cell line. Loss-of-function experiments using small interfering RNA (siRNA) targeting MNX1-AS1 (si-MNX1-AS1) were carried out in AGS and MGC-803 GC cell lines. Cell proliferation (CCK-8 assay), migration (Transwell) and invasion (Transwell Matrigel), and p...

Novel Survivin-Targeted Small Interfering RNA Delivered by Nanoparticles.
CONCLUSIONS: Our findings revealed that survivin suppression by siRNA may contribute to tumor inhibition through both proliferation inhibition and apoptosis promotion effect, and the pharmacokinetic characteristics serve as a fundamental role for further studies on its applicability for cancer therapy. Evaluation of in vitro and in vivo therapeutic antitumor efficacy of transduction of polo-like kinase 1 and heat shock transcription factor 1 small interfering RNA.
Authors: Hattori Y, Kikuchi T, Ozaki KI, Onishi H Abstract Mitotic progression is regulated by the phosphorylation of heat shock transcription factor 1 (HSF1) by polo-like kinase 1 (PLK1); however, this interaction is often deregulated in tumors. High expression levels of PLK1 and HSF1 have been observed in various types of human cancer. In the present study, it was investigated whether small interfering (si)RNA against PLK1 or HSF1 could suppress tumor growth in vitro and in vivo. In vitro transfection of PLK1 and HSF1 siRNA into PKL1- and HSF1-positive human breast tumor MDA-MB-231 and human cervical carcinoma He...
