The efficacy of CO2 angiography in the endovascular treatment of an acute iliac pseudoaneurysm
We report a case of a 39-year-old woman, allergic to iodine, with a recent kidney transplant, who presented in the emergency room with severe pain in the left iliac fossa. Angio CT-scan showed an acute pseudoaneurysm of the left common iliac artery. She was emergently treated with a stent-graft and CO<inf>2</inf> was used as main contrast medium. The intraoperative angiographies performed with carbon dioxide showed very well the rupture site and the pseudoaneurysm; the latter were more clearly visible with CO<inf>2</inf> compared with ICM. The reported case shows the efficacy of CO<inf>2</i...

Extremely late ‐onset chronic graft‐versus‐host disease presenting with bronchiolitis obliterans and pleuroparenchymal fibroelastosis
We present the case of 35-year-old patient, with a history of haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) at 2  years and 3 months of age during the second disease remission of acute myeloid leukaemia, who was diagnosed with chronic graft-versus-host disease (cGVHD) presenting with bronchiolitis obliterans (BO) and pleuroparenchymal fibroelastosis (PPFE). To our knowledge, this is the first reported case of BO and PPFE diagnosed more than 30 years after HSCT. AbstractA 35-year-old woman experienced left back pain after a 2-h flight. She reported coughing and left back pain 1  day later when she presented to our...

Fight Aging! Newsletter, July 31st 2023
In conclusion, an SBP level below 130 mmHg was found to be associated with longevity among older women. The longer SBP was controlled at a level between 110 and 130 mmHg, the higher the survival probability to age 90. Preventing age-related rises in SBP and increasing the time with controlled BP levels constitute important measures for achieving longevity. « Back to Top

Remedies for Kidney Ailments in Physica by Hildegard von Bingen (1098-1179)
CONCLUSIONS: Physica provides a reliable account of medicine in the 12th century as it was practiced by the clergy for generations. It also incorporates Hildegard's personal observations and contemporary folk remedies. This fact is supported by the limited similarity of nephrological remedies in Hildegard's Physica with the respective remedies in De Materia Medica.PMID:37496345 | DOI:10.6002/ect.IAHNCongress.13

Gastrointestinal AA Amyloidosis following Recurrent SARS-CoV-2 Infection: A Case Report
In this report, we describe a case of gastrointestinal (GI) AA amyloidosis following SARS-CoV-2 infection. A 75-year-old male presented to the emergency department with upper abdominal pain 6 weeks post kidney transplantation. He had a history of SARS-CoV-2 infection 4 weeks prior. On day 7 of hospitalization, while receiving conservative management, the patient developed symptoms of cough and fever, leading to a diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 reinfection. The patient's abdominal pain persisted, and hematochezia developed on day 30 of hospitalization. Esophagogastroduodenoscopy and colonoscopy revealed multiple ulcers in the stom...
