GC-MS Analysis of Persicaria bistorta: Uncovering the Molecular Basis of Its Traditional Medicinal Use
In this study, we used gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis to identify the chemical composition of Persicaria bistorta. The GC-MS analysis revealed the presence of several compounds, including flavonoids, tannins, saponins, and alkaloids. Among those, the most important from medicinal points of view are ethyl oleate (3%), cyclotetradecane (4.74%), dodecanoic acid (4.69%), hexadecanoic acid (5.61%), tetradecane (5.25%), cis-13-octadecenoic acid (10.91%), and bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (32%). The GC-MS analysis of ethanolic fraction of Persicaria bistorta involved in antibacterial activity showed about 18 ...

Vasodilators For High Blood Pressure: Types, Side Effects, Drug Interactions
Conclusion In summary, vasodilators play a pivotal role in managing cardiovascular conditions, including hypertension, which is rapidly becoming a global health concern. By expanding the body’s blood vessels, these unique medications can improve blood flow and decrease the pressure exerted by the heart, thereby providing relief to numerous patients worldwide. Their applications are diverse, extending beyond hypertension to conditions like angina, heart failure, and even erectile dysfunction. However, these medications should be taken carefully and always under the supervision of a doctor due to the potent...

Molecules, Vol. 28, Pages 5653: Plectranthus Species with Anti-Inflammatory and Analgesic Potential: A Systematic Review on Ethnobotanical and Pharmacological Findings
This study identified twelve Plectranthus species indicated for the treatment of different inflammatory conditions, such as wounds, fever, bronchitis, abscess, asthma, hepatitis, labyrinthitis, tonsillitis, and uterine inflammation. The indications for pain conditions included headache, sore throat, heartburn, menstrual cramp, colic, toothache, stomachache, migraine, chest pain, abdominal pain, local pain, labor pain, and recurring pain. Among the listed species, ten plants were found to be used according to traditional knowledge, although only four of them have been experimentally studied. When assessing the methodologica...

Major Targets involved in Clinical Management of Migraine
CONCLUSION: Migraine biomarkers such as CGRP, PACAP, NLRP3, Nitric oxide synthase, MMP9, and Serotonin could be targets for developing drugs. Present marketed medications temporarily reduce symptoms and pain and have serious cardiovascular side effects. It is suggested that herbal treatment may help prevent migraine attacks without adverse effects. Natural biomolecules that may give better treatment than the present marketed medication and full fledge research should be carried out with natural biomarkers by the Network Pharmacological approach.PMID:37488760 | DOI:10.2174/1567202620666230721111144
