Discussion on the causes of thrombolysis failure in a patient with STEMI: a case report
CONCLUSION: This was a case of failed STEMI thrombolysis in our hospital during the outbreak of COVID-19. This case indicates that doctors need to consider the cause of the disease when treating STEMI patients, especially patients without traditional cardiovascular risk factors. Moreover, CAG and intracoronary imaging examinations should be actively performed to identify the aetiology and improve the treatment success rate.PMID:36348268 | DOI:10.1186/s12872-022-02922-0

Outcomes among patients admitted for non-ST-segment myocardial infarction in the pre-pandemic and pandemic COVID-19 era: Israel Nationwide study
ConclusionIn contrast to previous reports, admission rates of NSTEMI were similar in this nationwide survey during the COVID-19 era. With longer time from symptoms to admission, but with the same time from hospital admission to reperfusion therapy and with similar in-hospital and 30-day mortality rates. Even in times of crisis, adherence of medical systems to clinical practice guidelines ensures the preservation of good clinical outcomes.

SARS-CoV-2 antibody research in patients with unprovoked pulmonary embolism in COVID-19 pandemic period
ConclusionIt should be kept in mind that some of the patients diagnosed with idiopathic PE during the pandemic may have embolism due to asymptomatic COVID-19. In addition, it is now known that COVID-19 also creates a tendency toward thrombosis in asymptomatic patients.

A case series of desmoplakin cardiomyopathy: a mimic of viral myocarditis
CONCLUSION: Mutations in the DSP gene are associated with left dominant arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy, which is a variant of ARVC. Beside left ventricular systolic dysfunction and ventricular tachyarrhythmias, carriers of these mutations may present with episodes of chest pain associated with elevated cardiac enzymes and cardiac imaging findings indistinguishable from other forms of acute myocarditis including viral myocarditis. Currently, there are no guidelines for diagnosis and treatment of this entity.PMID:36043215 | PMC:PMC9384800 | DOI:10.1093/ehjcr/ytac341

Angiographic and clinical outcome of SARS-CoV-2 positive patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction undergoing primary angioplasty: A collaborative, individual patient data meta-analysis of six registry-based studies
CONCLUSIONS: In STEMI patients undergoing PPCI, SARS-CoV-2 positivity is independently associated with impaired reperfusion and with a higher risk of in-hospital mortality, especially among male patients. Age ≥ 75 years, cardiogenic shock, and impaired postprocedural TIMI flow independently predict mortality in this high-risk population.PMID:35999094 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejim.2022.08.021

Ischaemic stroke due to basilar artery occlusion in a puerperal patient with SARS-CoV-2 infection
CONCLUSION: Severe SARS-CoV-2 disease results in a prothrombotic state that correlates with the prognosis of the disease. The last trimester of pregnancy and the puerperium are known prothrombotic risk factors. Recommendations for anticoagulation management in pregnant patients with COVID-19 are based on limited evidence. This is the first case to be published in Spain involving cerebral arterial thrombosis in a pregnant patient with SARS-CoV-2 infection.PMID:35866535 | DOI:10.33588/rn.7504.2021373

Cardiovascular outcome 6 months after severe coronavirus disease 2019 infection
Conclusion: Cardiovascular follow-up at 6 months after ICU-admission for severe COVID-19 revealed that one out of five invasively mechanically ventilated survivors had CAD, a quarter had subclinical left ventricular dysfunction defined as reduced echocardiographic GLS, and 42% of the patients had CMR abnormalities (reduced LVEF, reduced GLS, LGE presence, and elevated T2). On the basis of these findings, long-term cardiovascular follow-up is strongly recommended in all post-IC COVID-19 patients.
