Effect of interferon- α on COVID-19 in-hospital mortality: a large-scale propensity score-matched study
CONCLUSION: Our findings indicate that subcutaneous administration of IFN-α, with or without remdesivir, does not have any significant impact on COVID-19 mortality and ICU admission. Future clinical trials considering the time, subtype, and form of IFN-α administration are warranted to investigate the potential therapeutic effects of IFN-α on COVID-19.PMID:37724852 | DOI:10.1684/ecn.2023.0485

Dietary Supplement Use among Iranian Households during COVID ‑19 Epidemic Lockdown: Less Access in Those Who May Need More National Food and Nutrition Surveillance
Conclusions: During epidemic lockdown, DS use was remarkably increased among the Iranian households. Apart from the debatable usefulness of DSs against COVID‑19, the inverse association of DS use with a household’s income and provincial food security well indicates inequity in accessibility to DS. Actions to improve the nutritional status of the under‑privileged populations including targeted supplementation are strongly recommended.

A pediatric case series of catastrophic gastrointestinal complications of posttransplant lymphoproliferative disease with increasing incidence, high association with coronavirus disease 2019, higher mortality, and a plea for early endoscopy to prevent late fatal outcome
ConclusionSince 80% of our patients had exposure to coronavirus, a potential relationship might be suggested between the two. Furthermore, as we witnessed in one case, urgent endoscopic investigation in immunocompromised patients presenting with gastrointestinal symptoms can improve the clinical outcomes and therefore should be considered for early diagnosis of posttransplant lymphoproliferative disorder.
