A novel thermoresponsive nano carrier matrix of hyaluronic acid, methotrexate and chitosan to target the cluster of differentiation 44 receptors in tumors
In this study, we demonstrate a solution to these challenges that involves a dual targeting approach for tumors that overexpress CD44 receptors. The approach employs a nano-formulation (tHAC-MTX nano assembly), fabricated from hyaluronic acid (HA), the natural ligand for CD44, conjugated with methotrexate (MTX) and complexed with the thermoresponsive polymer 6-O-carboxymethylchitosan (6-OCMC) graft poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) [6-OCMC-g-PNIPAAm]. The thermoresponsive component was designed to have a lower critical solution temperature of 39 °C (the temperature of tumor tissues). In-vitro drug release studies reveal faster ...

Immunogenicity, efficacy, and safety of CoronaVac and Pfizer/BioNTech mRNA vaccines in patients with psoriasis receiving systemic therapies: A prospective cohort study
CONCLUSION: Psoriasis patients treated with biological agents and methotrexate developed similar response to mRNA vaccine but weaker response to inactivated vaccine. Infliximab reduced response to the inactivated vaccine. Adverse effects were more frequent with mRNA vaccine, but none was severe.PMID:37277251 | PMC:PMC10239265 | DOI:10.1016/j.vaccine.2023.05.052

Sequential Wipe Testing for Hazardous Drugs: A Quality Improvement Project
Clin J Oncol Nurs. 2023 May 18;27(3):267-273. doi: 10.1188/23.CJON.267-273.ABSTRACTBACKGROUND: Monitoring for the presence of hazardous drug (HD) residue is recommended as part of a comprehensive HD safety program. However, a single wipe test provides limited information without the ability to evaluate interventions.OBJECTIVES: This quality improvement project was designed to evaluate the benefits of performing sequential HD wipe testing during a six-month period in an ambulatory cancer center.METHODS: Four areas in the pharmacy department and two areas in the infusion department were selected for testing, which was conduc...

Histochemical, Immunohistochemical, and Biochemical Investigation of the Effect of Resveratrol on Testicular Damage Caused by Methotrexate (MTX)
In this study, where parameters were compared for the first time, total thiol (TT) and native thiol (NT) are the highest in the RES group, disulfide (DS), and ischemia-modified albumin (IMA) are the highest in the MTX group. Total oxidant status (TOS) and oxidative stress index (OSI) are the highest in the MTX group, and total antioxidant status (TAS) is the highest in the RES group. Separation and deterioration in the tunica albuginea, congestion and edema in the interstitial region, vacuolization in the seminiferous epithelium, and spermatogenic serial cells spilling into the lumen without completing their maturation wer...
