Use of electronic devices by people attending vision rehabilitation services in Italy: A study based on the device and aids registry (D.A.Re)
CONCLUSION: We found that using electronic devices, and especially smartphone and tablets, were associated with better vision-related quality of life in low-vision people attending rehabilitation services. While this association does not mean causality, these findings seemed robust to confounder adjustment.PMID:37680037 | DOI:10.1177/11206721231200376

Adherence to aerobic training combined with high protein intake is associated with low blood pressure in Italian older adults: a cross-sectional study
CONCLUSIONS: Our results indicate that AT combined with HPI was negatively associated with SBP in a large and relatively unselected sample of Italian older adults living in the community. These findings need confirmation by ad hoc designed studies.PMID:37682490 | DOI:10.1007/s40520-023-02549-x

Complementary feeding approach and maternal responsiveness in 8- and 12-month-old Italian infants: A longitudinal study
Appetite. 2023 Sep 5:107028. doi: 10.1016/j.appet.2023.107028. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIn Western countries, infants are usually introduced to solids through spoon-fed pureed foods (parent-led weaning, PLW). However, an alternative approach known as "baby-led weaning" (BLW), in which infants usually participate in family meals and eat independently, is becoming increasingly popular. We investigated the relationship between the type of complementary feeding approach and maternal responsiveness to infant feeding cues in a longitudinal sample of 178 infants observed at 8 and 12 months. Mothers reported the complementary...

Polyphenols of white lupin ( < em > Lupinus albus < /em > L.) seeds cultivated in Southern Italy by a LC-HRMS method
Nat Prod Res. 2023 Sep 7:1-5. doi: 10.1080/14786419.2023.2245535. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIn this work we examined the contents of 14 polyphenols in white lupin (Lupinus albus L.) samples cultivated in Southern Italy by the optimisation and validation of a LC-HRMS method. The validation of the LC-HRMS method showed linearity results r2 > 0.989 and recovery values between 71 and 119% for a very wide range of concentrations. Ellagic acid was the most abundant polyphenol, with mean concentrations of 16271.86 ± 19798.53 μg/Kg, followed by apigenin (2749.51 ± 889.95 μg/Kg). A significant variability in ellagic acid...

Highly purified cannabidiol in the treatment of drug-resistant epilepsies: A real-life impact on seizure frequency, quality of life, behavior, and sleep patterns from a single Italian center
Epilepsy Behav. 2023 Sep 5;147:109409. doi: 10.1016/j.yebeh.2023.109409. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTSeizure frequency in treatment-resistant epilepsies seems to be decreased by cannabidiol (CBD), but contrasting data are available on its effect on sleep, behavior, and quality of life (QoL), and no data is reported on its effect on parental stress in patients with epilepsy (PWE). Thus, we conducted a retrospective study on a cohort of children and adults with drug-resistant epilepsy (DRE) who had been treated with highly purified, pharmaceutical-grade CBD to evaluate its effects on seizure frequency, QoL, behavior, paren...
