Medication Safety in Breastfeeding
Am Fam Physician. 2022 Dec;106(6):638-644.ABSTRACTBreastfeeding is universally recognized as the preferred method of infant nutrition, but is sometimes abbreviated because of fear of harm to the infant from maternal medication. The amount of medication that enters breast milk varies based on the maternal serum concentration and the pharmacologic properties of the medication. When prescribing medications for a breastfeeding patient, those with the lowest risk to the infant should be selected, and dosing should be before the infant's longest sleep interval. Prescribers should use current, accurate resources. LactMed is a con...

Association of breastfeeding with postmenopausal visceral adiposity among three racial/ethnic groups.
CONCLUSIONS: Results suggest breastfeeding initiation is associated with reduced BMI and smaller waist girth, and breastfeeding >3 months is associated with lower postmenopausal VAT. PMID: 25522135 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Associations Between Breastfeeding History and Early Postmenopausal Bone Loss
This study aimed to evaluate associations of parity and breastfeeding history with postmenopausal bone loss. Early postmenopausal women from the Canadian Multicentre Osteoporosis Study were divided into three groups based on their reproductive histories: nulliparous (NP,n = 10), parous with <  6 months breastfeeding (P-NBF,n = 14), and parous with >  6 months breastfeeding (P-BF,n = 21). Women underwent dual X-ray absorptiometry and high-resolution peripheral quantitative computed tomography imaging at baseline and after 6 years to evaluate bone mineral density (BMD), bone microstructure, and...

Associations of Breastfeeding, Maternal Smoking, and Birth Weight With Bone Density and Microarchitecture in Young Adulthood: a 25 ‐Year Birth‐Cohort Study
In conclusion, breastfeeding and maternal smoking may have effects on peak bone microarchitecture whereas the association with birth weight is countered by subsequent growth. © 2020 American Society for Bone and Mineral Research.

Unilateral Breast Inflation Caused by Breastfeeding after Polyacrylamide Hydrogel Injection
We report the case of a 36-year-old woman who noted breast enlargement subsequent to breastfeeding, after a PAAG injection. In 2016, a PAAG injection was administered to her under both mammary glands at a nearby cosmetic surgery clinic for breast augmentation. After she started breastfeeding following delivery in 2020, she was admitted to our hospital because of a rapid left breast enlargement and unbearable pain. Contrast-enhanced chest computed tomography revealed marked fluid retention in the left breast, and the mammary gland tissue had been pushed outward. A skin incision revealed a significant amount of yellowish-whi...

How visual search relates to visual diagnostic performance: a narrative systematic review of eye-tracking research in radiology
Abstract Eye tracking research has been conducted for decades to gain understanding of visual diagnosis such as in radiology. For educational purposes, it is important to identify visual search patterns that are related to high perceptual performance and to identify effective teaching strategies. This review of eye-tracking literature in the radiology domain aims to identify visual search patterns associated with high perceptual performance. Databases PubMed, EMBASE, ERIC, PsycINFO, Scopus and Web of Science were searched using ‘visual perception’ OR ‘eye tracking’ AND ‘radiology’ and synonyms. Two aut...

Coordinate-based fast lightweight path search algorithm for electromagnetic navigation bronchoscopy
AbstractElectromagnetic navigation bronchoscopy (ENB) uses electromagnetic positioning technology to guide the bronchoscope to accurately and quickly reach the lesion along the planned path. However, enormous data in high-resolution lung computed tomography (CT) and the complex structure of multilevel branching bronchial tree make fast path search challenging for path planning. We propose a coordinate-based fast lightweight path search (CPS) algorithm for ENB. First, the centerline is extracted from the bronchial tree by applying topological thinning. Then, Euclidean-distance-based coordinate search is applied. The centerl...

Optimal marker placement in hadrontherapy: Intelligent optimization strategies with augmented Lagrangian pattern search
Conclusions The SAPS algorithm is a valuable strategy for fiducial configuration optimization in IR optical tracking applied for patient set-up error detection and correction in radiation therapy, showing that taking into account prior knowledge is valuable in this optimization process. Further work will be focused on the computational optimization of the SAPS algorithm toward fast point-of-care applications. Graphical abstract

Lung Cancer Detection using Probabilistic Neural Network with modified Crow-Search Algorithm.
CONCLUSION: The
strategy for the selection of appropriate extracted features is employed to improve the efficiency of classification and
the work shows that the PNN with CCSA based feature selection gives an improved classification than without using
CCSA for feature selection. Derivation and validation of text search algorithms for renal and adrenal lesion identification in radiology text reports.
CONCLUSIONS: Textual radiology reports can be analyzed using common statistical software to accurately determine the probability that important abnormalities of the kidneys or adrenal glands exist. These methods can be used for case identification or epidemiological studies. PMID: 31977309 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

M3NAS: Multi-Scale and Multi-Level Memory-Efficient Neural Architecture Search for Low-Dose CT Denoising
Lowering the radiation dose in computed tomography (CT) can greatly reduce the potential risk to public health. However, the reconstructed images from dose-reduced CT or low-dose CT (LDCT) suffer from severe noise which compromises the subsequent diagnosis and analysis. Recently, convolutional neural networks have achieved promising results in removing noise from LDCT images. The network architectures that are used are either handcrafted or built on top of conventional networks such as ResNet and U-Net. Recent advances in neural network architecture search (NAS) have shown that the network architecture has a dramatic effec...
