Immune Dysfunction from Radiation Exposure
Radiat Res. 2023 Sep 13. doi: 10.1667/RADE-22-00197.1. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTExposure to ionizing radiation causes acute damage and loss of bone marrow and peripheral immune cells that can result in high mortality due to reduced resistance to infections and hemorrhage. Besides these acute effects, tissue damage from radiation can trigger inflammatory responses, leading to progressive and chronic tissue damage by radiation-induced loss of immune cell types that are required for resolving tissue injuries. Understanding the mechanisms involved in radiation-induced immune system injury and repair will provide new insig...

Combined endoscopic sinus surgery and endonasal septal perforation repair: Symptom outcomes and perforation closure rates
KEYPOINTS Combined endoscopic sinus surgery and nasal septal perforation repair is technically feasible. NOSE-Perf is a recently developed patient-reported outcome measure for nasal septal perforation. The decision to perform combined ESS and NSP repair should be made on a case-by-case basis.

Carbon Dioxide Guided Endovascular Aortic Aneurysm Repair in Impaired Renal Function: Propensity Score Matching Study
CONCLUSION: Patients with impaired renal function are at higher risk of CIN after endovascular procedure. CO2 guided EVAR is a safe, effective, and feasible treatment option, especially for patients with impaired renal function. CO2 guided EVAR may be a protective measure for contrast induced nephropathy.PMID:37399989 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejvs.2023.06.039

γδ T Cells and Allergic Diseases
AbstractGamma –delta (γδ) T cells play an essential role in allergic diseases and have emerged as a potential treatment target in recent decades. To clarify the effects of γδ T cells on atopic illnesses, we reviewed the literature on the physical roles and functions of various subsets of γδ T cells, inclu ding type 1 T helper (Th1)-like, type 2 T helper- (Th2)-like, and type 17 T helper (Th17)-like γδ T cells. Mouse Vγ1 T cells increase interleukin (IL)-4 levels and trigger B cell class switching and immunoglobulin E production. Meanwhile, mouse Vγ4 T cells and human CD8lowV δ1 T cells secrete interferon-γ...

Carbon Dioxide Guided Endovascular Aortic Aneurysm Repair in Impaired Renal Function: Propensity Score Matching Study
In this study, the aim was to clarify the possible protective effects of CO2 guided endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) for patients with impaired renal function by propensity score matching.

Role of Mesenchymal Stem Cells and Short Chain Fatty Acids in Allergy: A Prophylactic Therapy for Future
Immunol Lett. 2023 Jun 2:S0165-2478(23)00096-2. doi: 10.1016/j.imlet.2023.06.002. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAllergic diseases are broadly classified as IgE-mediated type-I hypersensitivity immune reactions due to exposure to typically harmless substances known as allergens. These allergenic substances activate antigen presenting cells, which further triggers T-helper 2 cells immune response and class switch B-cells for synthesis of allergen-specific IgE, followed by classical activation of inflammatory mast cells and eosinophils, which releases preformed mediators involved in the cascade of allergic symptoms. However, ...
