Endoscopic resection of sinonasal mucosal melanoma has comparable outcomes to open approaches.
CONCLUSION: In carefully selected patients with sinonasal melanoma, endoscopic surgery with an experienced team may offer comparable survival and improved local control over open surgery. Prospective, multicentered studies with larger cohorts are needed to validate these results. PMID: 28490408 [PubMed - in process]

Myeloid-derived Suppressor Cells Elimination by 5-Fluorouracil Increased Dendritic Cell-based Vaccine Function and Improved Immunity in Tumor Mice.
This study have shown that combinational therapy with DC vaccine improved immunity in tumor mice compared to the therapy consisting of DC vaccine or 5-FU only. PMID: 29512369 [PubMed - in process]

Impact of community respiratory viral infections in urban children with asthma.
CONCLUSION: Urban asthmatic children with high-symptom respiratory viral infections have reduced FEF25-75 and more elevations of nasal biomarkers than children with mild or asymptomatic infections, or virus-negative illnesses. PMID: 30385348 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Open Versus Endoscopic Approach for Sinonasal Melanoma: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis.
CONCLUSION: Based on the available literature, an endoscopic approach for SNM resection has survival outcomes that are similar or greater compared to an open approach. PMID: 30616359 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Atopy and Development of Cancer: A Population-Based Prospective Study
Conclusion Our data did not support the hypothesis that atopy is associated with an altered risk of total cancer development, although effects of atopy on specific types of cancer cannot be excluded.

P384 Expanding the role of tryptase from allergy to cancer?
Elevated serum tryptase values may be found in several conditions, including mastocytosis, myeloproliferative neoplasms, hypereosinophilic disorders, and myelodysplastic syndromes. Increased density of tissue mast cells is correlated with poor prognosis in lung adenocarcinoma as well as melanoma, gastric carcinoma, and breast cancer. While an elevated tryptase has been proposed as a biomarker in several hematologic malignancies including chronic myeloid leukemia, an elevated tryptase has not been previously reported in association with lung adenocarcinoma.

Role of Mast Cells in Shaping the Tumor Microenvironment.
Abstract Early mast cell (MC) infiltration has been reported in a wide range of human and animal tumors particularly malignant melanoma and breast and colorectal cancer. The consequences of their presence in the tumor microenvironment (TME) or at their margins still remain unclear as it is associated with a good or poor prognosis based on the type and anatomical site of the tumor. Within the tumor, MC interactions occur with infiltrated immune cells, tumor cells, and extracellular matrix (ECM) through direct cell-to-cell interactions or release of a broad range of mediators capable of remodeling the TME. MCs activ...

M014 eosinophilia related to nivolumab: allergy or a helpful ally
Checkpoint inhibitors, as nivolumab, are increasingly relevant in the treatment of several types of cancer. Eosinophilia related to these medications can occur at an estimated frequency of 2.9%. Previous reports suggest eosinophilia is associated to prolonged survival in patients with melanoma receiving nivolumab.
