Anaphylaxis in Omani Patients: A Study from a Tertiary Care Center
CONCLUSIONS: Due to its life-threatening nature, knowledge of the epidemiology and clinical features of anaphylaxis in different populations is necessary to deliver rapid treatment. This study found that the clinical features of anaphylactic patients in Oman were similar to those reported elsewhere. Further research is needed to determine the true incidence of anaphylaxis in Oman to minimize associated morbidity and mortality.PMID:35136659 | PMC:PMC8804154 | DOI:10.5001/omj.2021.113

Severe asthma biologic treatment in the era of COVID-19 - case series
Conclusions: Only a minority of this population tested positive for COVID-19 and none of them developed serious disease, supporting the evidence that both severe type-2 asthma and its targeted treatment do not convey increased risk for disease. However, additional studies regarding long-term complications should also be performed.

BMJ Case Rep. 2021 Aug 3;14(8):e241908. doi: 10.1136/bcr-2021-241908.ABSTRACTAn 87-year-old man with a history of osteoarthritis presented with worsening knee pain. He was prescribed acetaminophen with codeine. A few days later, he developed a rash on his right buttock and proximal thigh, similar to a rash he experienced in the past when he took over-the-counter (OTC) acetamenophen and an unknown lozenge to treat a presumed viral illness. A fixed drug eruption (FDE) was diagnosed and the patient was asked to avoid Tylenol and other OTC lozenges. Tylenol was entered as an allergy in the electronic medical records. However, ...

The most common disorders were respiratory diseases (n = 185; 50%), mucocutaneous diseases (n = 113; 31%), drug allergy (n = 31; 8%), food allergy (n = 9; 2%), and anaphylaxis (n = 9; 2%). U...
