Fertility drugs and cancer: a guideline
Methodological limitations in studying the association between the use of fertility drugs and cancer include the inherent increased risk of cancer in women who never conceive, the increased risk of cancer because of factors (endometriosis and unopposed estrogen) associated with infertility, the low incidence of most of these cancers, and that the diagnosis of cancer is typically several years after fertility drug use. On the basis of available data, there does not appear to be an association between fertility drugs and breast, colon, or cervical cancer. (Source: Fertility and Sterility)

Anatomic fertility assessment: everything old is new again
The evaluation of the infertile individual or couple has been one of progressive simplification (1), although interventions have become more complex progressively (2). The history of anatomic assessment of the female reproductive tract is interesting and reflects well on the genius of reproductive medicine pioneers from the early years of the 20th century because they pursued the least invasive options possible to assess the uterus, fallopian tubes, and peritoneal cavity. Many of us who were in fellowship in the 90s or even earlier remember hearing from the more senior faculty about the use of the Rubin (in the literature ...

The American Society for Reproductive Medicine ’s new and more inclusive definition of infertility may conflict with traditional and conservative religious-cultural values
We read with great interest the new and more inclusive definition of infertility by the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) (1), which seeks to expand this terminology beyond physical/medical inability to conceive to also include “social infertility”, which is the inability to have offspring due to various personal circumstances such as same-sex relationships and sex reassignment surgery. This may justify state subsidies, insurance coverage, and employment benefits for medical intervention with assisted reproductive tech nologies in such non–medically indicated cases.
