A VO < sub > 2peak < /sub > prediction model in older adults' patients with Parkinson's disease
CONCLUSIONS: Accessible, simple, and low-cost variables were useful for validly predicting VO2peak in patients with PD.PMID:37678552 | DOI:10.1016/j.exger.2023.112285

The effect of high-frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation on motor recovery and gait parameters in chronic incomplete spinal cord injury: A randomized-controlled study
CONCLUSION: Our study findings support the therapeutic effectiveness of rTMS on motor recovery in chronic iSCI. The rTMS can be used as an adjuvant therapy to conventional physiotherapy in the rehabilitation of patients with iSCI.PMID:37674795 | PMC:PMC10478546 | DOI:10.5606/tftrd.2023.11585

Physiotherapy as part of collaborative and person-centered rehabilitation services: the social systems constraining an innovative practice
CONCLUSION: An innovative practice was constrained by multilevel social systems: the professional logic shaping the perceived professional scope, the organizational logic shaping the understanding of what was expected in the organizational context, and a system logic within a biomedical paradigm. Transforming and transcending these social systems is needed to realize collaborative and person-centered practice.PMID:37676077 | DOI:10.1080/09593985.2023.2255893

Serratus anterior fascia plane block for pain control in patients with multiple rib fractures
Conclusion] We report the cases of three patients who completed respiratory physiotherapy after receiving intermittent SAP blocks for the management of pain due to multiple rib fractures. SAP blocks are associated with a low risk of complications as the ribs are not punctured while performing SAP blocks.PMID:37670765 | PMC:PMC10475645 | DOI:10.1589/jpts.35.673

Advice-giving skills in pre-registration physiotherapy training
CONCLUSIONS: Developing high-level skills in promoting self-management is essential in physiotherapy, this study highlights the challenges for students to develop these skills. Academic and practice educators must explicitly enable and support students to develop the knowledge and skills to confidently offer high-quality advice to patients.PMID:37668054 | DOI:10.1080/09593985.2023.2247485

Spasticity treatment in Norwegian hospitals
The objective of the study was to obtain an overview of the availability and organisation of these specialised forms of spasticity treatment in Norway.MATERIAL AND METHOD: We conducted a survey in which a digital questionnaire was sent to hospitals that offer spasticity treatment.RESULTS: A total of 30 of 47 hospital departments/outpatient clinics (hereafter referred to as 'hospital units') distributed across all Norwegian health regions responded to the questionnaire. Spasticity treatment with botulinum toxin and baclofen pump was available in all of the health regions. Median time from first referral was 10 weeks (interq...

Using ultrasound elastography to assess non-invasive, non-pharmacological interventions for musculoskeletal stiffness: a systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: Ultrasound elastography demonstrates clinical applicability for assessing non-invasive, non-pharmacological interventions for musculoskeletal stiffness. However, the comparative efficacy of these interventions for modulating tissue stiffness remains inconclusive.PMID:37668241 | DOI:10.1080/09638288.2023.2252744

Validation of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health (ICF) core set for post-acute musculoskeletal conditions in a primary care physiotherapy setting from the perspective of patients using focus groups
CONCLUSIONS: Entities in the ICF core set for post-acute musculoskeletal conditions are relevant to patients seen in primary care physical therapy units. However, there are areas of functioning related to community health care not covered by this ICF-based tool.IMPLICATIONS OF REHABILITATIONAn ICF-based framework is feasible for the assessment of musculoskeletal conditions.Post-acute musculoskeletal ICF core set was confirmed in patient focus groups.Additional ICF categories emerged for a primary care physical therapy setting.Community features of functioning could be addressed by a tailored ICF core set.PMID:37667886 | DO...
