Can language enhance physical therapists' willingness to follow Choosing Wisely recommendations? A best-worst scaling study
CONCLUSION: Physical therapists were more willing to follow recommendations that provided more detail, alternatives to low-value care, and were positively framed. These findings can inform the development of future Choosing Wisely recommendations and could help reduce low-value physical therapy.PMID:37597492 | DOI:10.1016/j.bjpt.2023.100534

What are the unsupervised exercise adherence rates in clinical trials for knee osteoarthritis? A systematic review
CONCLUSIONS: Clinical trials for knee OA do not consistently collect or report adherence with unsupervised exercise programs. Slightly more than half of the studies reported collecting adherence data while only 40.9% reported findings with substantial heterogeneity in tracking methodology. The clinical relevance of these programs cannot be properly contextualized without this information.PMID:37597491 | DOI:10.1016/j.bjpt.2023.100533

A case report: Pain in the hand and tingling of the upper limb may be a symptom of a schwannoma in the supraclavicular region
CONCLUSIONS: This case adds to the growing understanding of brachial plexus schwannomas and their diagnostic complexities. Our report underscores the significance of recognizing these tumors in patients with distinct symptomatology and highlights the need for detailed diagnostic assessments and surgical planning.PMID:37597433 | DOI:10.1016/j.ijscr.2023.108664

In the Treatment of Lateral Epicondylitis by Percutaneous Perforation, Injectables Have No Added Value
CONCLUSION: There is no benefit to injectable autologous blood and dextrose over perforation alone to treat lateral epicondylitis, and they are therefore not indicated for this condition.LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: Level I, therapeutic study.PMID:37594385 | DOI:10.1097/CORR.0000000000002774

Recommendations for physiotherapy and physical activity for children with Legg-Calv é-Perthes disease: a survey of pediatric orthopedic surgeons and physiotherapists in Sweden
CONCLUSION: We found high agreement on recommending stretching exercises for all disease stages, but controversies regarding recommendations for strengthening exercises in the initial and fragmentation stages. No non-weightbearing treatment for the affected hip was recommended by any participants at any stage of the disease. There was no clear consensus regarding the appropriate timeline for resuming full activities.PMID:37592869 | PMC:PMC10436286 | DOI:10.2340/17453674.2023.18341

Unraveling the Transcriptional Network Regulated by miRNAs in Blast-Resistant and Blast
Gene. 2023 Aug 16:147718. doi: 10.1016/j.gene.2023.147718. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe plant pathogen Magnaporthe oryzae poses a significant threat to global food security, and its management through the cultivation of resistant varieties and crop husbandry practices, including fungicidal sprays, has proven to be inadequate. To address this issue, we conducted small-RNA sequencing to identify the roles of miRNAs and their target genes in both resistant (PB1637) and susceptible (PB1) rice genotypes. We confirmed the expression of differentially expressed miRNAs using stem-loop qRT-PCR analysis and correlated them with...

Call the on-Call: Authentic Team Training on an Interprofessional Training Ward - A Case Study
CONCLUSION: The learning activity created new opportunities for students to reflect on interprofessional collaboration. Constant physical proximity during training is not essential for effective healthcare team building. Splitting the student team during training may in fact enhance interprofessional learning and lead to progression in interprofessional communication.PMID:37588849 | PMC:PMC10426451 | DOI:10.2147/AMEP.S413723
