RT-qPCR Analysis of LAMP3 (CD208) Gene Expression in Oral Lichen Planus and Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma
CONCLUSIONS: According to the findings of this study, it can be concluded that the expression of the LAMP3 gene in SCC lesions is higher than in healthy tissue. Hence, LAMP3 gene expression can be used as a diagnostic biomarker.PMID:37724152 | PMC:PMC10505466 | DOI:10.52547/rbmb.12.1.36

Effect of miR-18a-5p, miR-19a-3p, and miR-20a-5p on < em > In Vitro < /em > Cardiomyocyte Differentiation of Human Endometrium Tissue-Derived Stem Cells Through Regulation of Smad4 Expression
CONCLUSION: Our results indicate that miR-18a-5p, miR-19a-3p, and miR-20a-5p are involved in the cardiac differentiation propensity of hEMSCs potentially by regulation of Smad levels. Although, more mechanistic experiments are required to confirm this idea.PMID:37724150 | PMC:PMC10505458 | DOI:10.52547/rbmb.12.1.136

Anti-Cancer Effect of < em > Dorema Ammoniacum Gum < /em > by Targeting Metabolic Reprogramming by Regulating < em > APC, P53, KRAS < /em > Gene Expression in HT-29 Human Colon Cancer Cells
CONCLUSION: This study's results indicate that the dichloromethane solvent of Dorema ammoniacum gum exhibits its antitumor properties by altering the expression of genes involved in HT-29 cells and the consequent change in downstream metabolic reprogramming.PMID:37724146 | PMC:PMC10505474 | DOI:10.52547/rbmb.12.1.127

The Prognostic Significance of P16 Immunohistochemical Expression Pattern in Women with Invasive Ductal Breast Carcinoma
CONCLUSIONS: Our study demonstrated that p16 protein expression increased in ER-positive tumor tissue from patients with invasive ductal breast carcinoma. However, no correlation was found between the p16 protein expression and the other clinicopathological features.PMID:37724141 | PMC:PMC10505467 | DOI:10.52547/rbmb.12.1.83

Transcriptome Data Reveal Geographic Heterogeneity in Gene Expression in Patients with Prostate Cancer
CONCLUSIONS: This study suggests that geographic heterogeneity in PC incidence is associated with the expression levels of genes associated with amino acid metabolism, lipid metabolism, and ion channels.PMID:37724140 | PMC:PMC10505463 | DOI:10.52547/rbmb.12.1.92

An effective disease diagnostic model related to pyroptosis in ischemic cardiomyopathy
J Cell Mol Med. 2023 Sep 19. doi: 10.1111/jcmm.17957. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPyroptosis is involved in ischemic cardiomyopathy (ICM). The study aimed to investigate the pyroptosis-related genes and clarify their diagnostic value in ICM. The bioinformatics method identified the differential pyroptosis genes between the normal control and ICM samples from online datasets. Then, protein-protein interaction (PPI) and function analysis were carried out to explore the function of these genes. Following, subtype analysis was performed using ConsensusClusterPlus, functions, immune score, stromal score, immune cell proportio...

Interactive effects of CDKN2B-AS1 gene polymorphism and habitual risk factors on oral cancer
J Cell Mol Med. 2023 Sep 19. doi: 10.1111/jcmm.17966. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTOral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is a common malignant disease associated with a high mortality rate and heterogeneous disease aetiology. Cyclin dependent kinase inhibitor 2B antisense RNA 1 (CDKN2B-AS1), is a long noncoding RNA that has been shown to act as a scaffold, sponge, or signal hub to promote carcinogenesis. Here, we attempted to assess the effect of CDKN2B-AS1 single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) on the susceptibility to OSCC. Five CDKN2B-AS1 SNPs, including rs564398, rs1333048, rs1537373, rs2151280 and rs8181047, were analy...

Attenuation of NLRP3 Inflammasome by Cigarette Smoke is Correlated with Decreased Defense Response of Oral Epithelial Cells to Candida albicans
CONCLUSION: Our results suggested that in oral epithelial cells, the NLRP3 inflammasome might be one of the target pathways by which CSE attenuates innate immunity and leads to oral disorders.PMID:37723958 | DOI:10.2174/1566524023666230612143038

Emetine dihydrochloride alleviated radiation-induced lung injury through inhibiting EMT
In this study, we demonstrated that emetine dihydrochloride (EDD) alleviated RILI through inhibiting EMT. We found that EDD significantly attenuated EMT-related markers, reduced Smad3 phosphorylation expression after radiation. Then, for the first time, we observed EDD alleviated lung hyperaemia and reduced collagen deposit induced by irradiation, providing protection against RILI. Finally, it was found that EDD inhibited radiation-induced EMT in lung tissues. Our study suggested that EDD alleviated RILI through inhibiting EMT by blocking Smad3 signalling pathways. In summary, our results indicated that EDD is a novel pote...
