Hepatitis Research Aided By New Rodent Viruses
Newly discovered mouse viruses could pave the way for future progress in hepatitis research, enabling scientists to study human disease and vaccines in the ultimate lab animal. In a study to be published in mBio®, the online open-access journal of the American Society for Microbiology, scientists describe their search for viruses related to the human hepatitis C virus (HCV) and human pegiviruses (HPgV) in frozen stocks of wild mice...

Hepatitis A Infected Blueberries Sicken 113, Hepatitis A Vaccine Over 435 Adverse Reactions – Blueberries Recalled
Conclusion The beginning of this article shows the FDA and CDC removing a product, like blueberries, from the shelf when they determined it was infecting people and making them sick. You can also see that vaccines for the same virus – which are considered to be a pharmaceutical drug – harm many more children than blueberries and still these vaccines remain untouched. It’s my personal conviction the reason these organizations ignore adverse reactions is because pharmaceutical companies have firmly entrenched themselves within the US government, protecting their profits with laws. Is the risk of vaccinating your child ...

Five Month-Old Baby Dies Just Days After 8 Vaccinations – Parents Are Charged With Her Murder
Conclusion As with so many of these cases, Baby A did not just receive just one vaccine, so it is therefore difficult to pinpoint exactly which vaccine, if any, may have led to her death. However, it is vital that the doctors involved in this case as with all cases, consider the vaccines as a possible contributory factor. Sadly, these parents have been accused and charged with the murder of their daughter without any substantial evidence of foul play. There appears to be no evidence of external head injuries or bruising to the upper body to indicate that Baby A had been shaken. I believe that if this child had been shaken ...

Single-dose administration of inactivated hepatitis A vaccination in the context of hepatitis A vaccine recommendations
Conclusions: Protective anti-hepatitis A virus antibody levels after a single dose of inactivated hepatitis A vaccine can persist for almost 11 years and increase or reappear after booster vaccination. Further research on the vaccine doses needed to achieve long-term protection against hepatitis A infection is required.

With vaccines…Is there no middle ground, no room for questions?
“We should be as demanding of ourselves as we are of those who challenge us.” Dr. Jerome Groopman, writing in the New Rupublic Writing about the medical decision-making surrounding vaccines proved to be sketchy. Yesterday’s post brought stinging criticism from both sides of the debate. A pediatrician felt the structure of the post was patronizing. Just an hour later, a skeptic sent me the same message–patronizing. This was educational. Criticism is taken seriously here, especially when it comes from both sides of an argument. The reflex: Perhaps its useful to write more on the matter? (It’s f...

Do You Believe More Vaccines or Better Nutrition Prevents Disease?
Conclusion Tremendous government financial and medical resources are wasted on the development of more vaccinations to prevent diseases. No research has proven the effectiveness of vaccinations in preventing illness. Overwhelming evidence exists to show vaccines are dangerous to health and contribute to illness, injury and death. To prevent disease, one should avoid vaccinations, mercury dental fillings and toxic food. Following a nutrient-dense diet of whole, organic foods and removing toxic metals from the body are the best avenues to try and prevent illness and enhance health. References http://www.fierce...

The link between genetic variation and variability in vaccine responses: Systematic review and meta-analyses.
Abstract Although immune response to vaccines can be influenced by several parameters, human genetic variations are thought to strongly influence the variability in vaccine responsiveness. Systematic reviews and meta-analyses are needed to clarify the genetic contribution to this variability, which may affect the efficacy of existing vaccines. We performed a systematic literature search to identify all studies describing the associations of allelic variants or single nucleotide polymorphisms in immune response genes with vaccine responses until July 2013. The studies fulfilling inclusion criteria were meta-analyze...

Acute viral hepatitis – Should the current screening strategy be modified?
Conclusions: HEV screening should be included in the initial testing panel for acute hepatitis and screening at least for HAV and HEV might be limited to those with abnormal ALT levels.

Acute liver failure in Turkey: A systematic review.
CONCLUSION: Preventable causes of acute liver failure in Turkey include hepatitis viruses and intoxication. Active vaccination and public awareness can decrease the number of acute liver failures. Paracetamol is not an emerging reason for acute liver failure in Turkey now, but selling it over the counter may increase the risks. PMID: 24918128 [PubMed - in process]

Hepatitis B vaccine by intradermal route in non responder patients: An update.
Abstract Vaccination is the main prophylactic measure to reduce the mortality caused by hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection in healthy subjects since the immune response to hepatitis B recombinant vaccination occurs in over 90% of general population. Individuals who develop an anti-HBs titer less than 10 mIU/mL after primary vaccination cycle are defined "no responders". Many factors could cause a non response to the HBV vaccination, such as administration of the vaccine in buttocks, impaired vaccine storage conditions, drug abuse, smoking, infections and obesity. Moreover there are some diseases, like chronic kidne...

This Is the Way One Father Told His Pediatrician “No” to Vaccines
What does an informed parent look like? We’ll show you. Below is a letter written by Bob O’kane, a concerned parent, to his pediatrician about vaccines and the danger they pose to his child. This letter is one great example of how to approach your doctor, especially if you have looked into the matter further and are uncomfortable with their stance on the topic. The name of the doctor has been intentionally omitted. Doctor XXX, My wife and I would like to say it was an absolute pleasure to meet you. We thank you for taking the time with us the other day to discuss our beautiful little daughter Rylan. I was wo...

Question 1: Should newborns of mothers with isolated antibodies to hepatitis B core antigen be immunised?
Scenario The midwife calls you to assess a newborn in the delivery room. The pregnancy was uneventful, but the mother's serology results show the following: hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) negative, antibodies against hepatitis B surface antigen (anti-HBs) negative, but antibodies against hepatitis B core antigen (anti-HBc) positive. You wonder if the baby is at risk for perinatal transmission of hepatitis B virus (HBV) requiring preventive measures at this time. Structured clinical question Does a newborn of a mother with isolated antibodies against hepatitis B core antigen need immunisation (intervention) to prevent ...

Saikosaponin b2 is a Naturally Occurring Terpenoid That Efficiently Inhibits Hepatitis C Virus Entry
A vaccine against hepatitis C virus (HCV) is unavailable and cost-effective antivirals that prevent HCV infection and re-infection, such as in the transplant setting, do not exist. In a search for novel and economical prophylactic agents, we examined the antiviral activity of saikosaponins (SSa, SSb2, SSc, and SSd) from Bupleurum kaoi root (BK) as entry inhibitors against HCV infection.
