Role of Non ‐Steroidal Anti‐Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) in the Association between Osteoarthritis and Cardiovascular Diseases: A Longitudinal Study
ConclusionFindings of this first study to evaluate NSAID's mediating role in OA ‐CVD relationship suggest that NSAID use substantially contributes to the OA‐CVD association. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.

Immunological biomarkers in neuropsychiatric systemic lupus erythematosus: a comparative cross-sectional study from a tertiary care center in South India.
CONCLUSION: No single biomarker correlated with NPSLE. Among different NPSLE manifestations, the prevalence of IgG β2GP1 in stroke, LA in demyelination, anti-ribosomal P in psychosis and anti-myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein in mood disorder were higher. Further studies on the pathogenic mechanisms underlying NPSLE and its different manifestations may help us to identify better biomarkers. PMID: 32106787 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Anti ‐citrullinated protein antibody specificities, rheumatoid factor isotypes and incident cardiovascular events in patients with rheumatoid arthritis
ConclusionsRF isotypes and ACPA are associated with future CV events. ACPA levels and number of sub ‐specificities seem more important than the occurrence of particular sub‐specificities. These associations were not explained by smoking.

Anti –Citrullinated Protein Antibody Specificities, Rheumatoid Factor Isotypes, and Incident Cardiovascular Events in Patients With Rheumatoid Arthritis
ConclusionRF isotypes and ACPAs are associated with future CV events in patients with RA. ACPA levels and number of subspecificities seem more important than the occurrence of particular subspecificities, and these associations were not explained by a history of ever smoking.

Cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in patients with spondyloarthritis: A meta ‐analysis
ConclusionsOur meta ‐analysis demonstrated that patients with SpA have a significantly increased risks of MI and stroke, but without a significant increase in the all‐cause mortality, than that in the general population. The higher risk of CV in patients with SpA than that in the general population indicates the ne ed for strict risk factor correction and disease management.

Risk factors for severe cranial ischaemic complications in giant cell arteritis
ConclusionIncreasing age, jaw claudication and smoking predicted sCIC, while higher CRP decreased the risk of sCIC in our GCA cohort.

Benefits of Methotrexate Use on Cardiovascular Disease Risk among Rheumatoid Arthritis Patients Initiating Biologic Disease-Modifying Antirheumatic Drugs.
CONCLUSION: Among RA patients receiving biologics, concomitant methotrexate use was associated with a 24% lower risk for CVD events. PMID: 33060309 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

O27  Frailty and co-morbidity in people with osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis
Conclusion Co-morbidity is associated with an increased occurrence of pre-frailty and frailty among people with OA and RA and interacts synergistically with OA and RA to increase the likelihood of pre-frailty and frailty.Disclosure M.J. A discrete-choice experiment of United Kingdom patients' willingness to risk adverse events for improved function and pain control in osteoarthritis
Conclusion: Patients ranked ambulatory pain as a more important benefit than resting pain; likely due to its impact on ability to do daily activities. For a 25-mm reduction, patients were willing to accept four times the risk of MI in ambulatory pain vs resting pain.

Cardiovascular disease due to accelerated atherosclerosis in systemic vasculitides
Patients with different forms of systemic vasculitis experience long-term morbidity and mortality caused by cardiovascular disease due to premature atherosclerosis.Epidemiologic reports of patients with GCA suggest that long-term mortality in this disease is not increased compared with the general population of the same age. The risk of a stroke, however, in particular in the vertebrobasilar territory, is increased. In addition, the occurrence of aortic aneurysmal disease and aortic dissection is also clearly increased in GCA. Mortality due to ischaemic heart disease, however, is not increased. In Takayasu arteritis acceler...

Childhood-onset systemic polyarteritis nodosa and systemic lupus erythematosus: an overlap syndrome?
In conclusion, we described herein a possible overlap syndrome of two autoimmune diseases, where childhood-onset systemic polyarteritis nodosa occurred five years before the childhood-onset systemic lupus erythematosus diagnosis.

Subcutaneous nodules are associated with cardiovascular events in patients with rheumatoid arthritis: results from a large US registry
The objective of this study is to examine the possibility of a relationship between subcutaneous nodules and “first ever” cardiovascular disease event, i.e., myocardial infarction (MI), stroke, or cardiovascular death in a large registry-cohort of patients with RA. Patient information was collected from the CORRONA registry from October 2001 to September 2011. A total of 26,042 patients with RA were studied for the presence or absence of subcutaneous nodules. Cox proportional hazards regression models were constructed to estimate the hazard ratios (HR) for CVD events in relation to subcutaneous nodules at baseline. Thr...
