The Association Between Heart Rate Variability and 90-Day Prognosis in Patients With Transient Ischemic Attack and Minor Stroke
Conclusions: Based on our findings, autonomic dysfunction is an adverse indicator for neurological function prognosis and stroke recurrence 90 days after TIA or minor stroke.

Effects of heat stroke on surface ECG: a study on clinical outcomes
Conclusion There was high incidence of atrial arrhythmias in patients with classic heat stroke. A low P-wave voltage (<0.01 mV) in lead II was predictive of adverse in-hospital outcome in this cohort of patients.

Electrophysiological ventricular substrate of stroke: a prospective cohort study in the Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities (ARIC) study
Conclusions PVC burden (reflected by cardiac memory) is associated with ischaemic stroke. Transient cardiac memory (likely through TD-IBBB) precedes ICH.

Acute Heart Failure After Reperfused Ischemic Stroke: Association With Systemic and Cardiac Inflammatory Responses
Patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) present an increased incidence of systemic inflammatory response syndrome and release of Troponin T coinciding with cardiac dysfunction. The nature of the cardiocirculatory alterations remains obscure as models to investigate systemic interferences of the brain-heart-axis following AIS are sparse. Thus, this study aims to investigate acute cardiocirculatory dysfunction and myocardial injury in mice after reperfused AIS. Ischemic stroke was induced in mice by transient right-sided middle cerebral artery occlusion (tMCAO). Cardiac effects were investigated by electrocardiograms, 3D-e...

Prevalence, clinical profile, and stroke risk of atrial fibrillation in rural Andhra Pradesh, India (the ap-af study)
CONCLUSION: The prevalence of AF is lower in this study compared to studies from the developed countries. Non-rheumatic cardiovascular risk factors were the causes for AF. Non-adherence to stroke prophylaxis is a major threat that needs to be addressed.PMID:35257736 | DOI:10.1016/j.ihj.2022.02.002

Prevalence of atherosclerosis and association with 5-year outcome: The Norwegian Stroke in the Young Study
CONCLUSION: Atherosclerosis is highly prevalent even in young stroke patients. Some areas and increasing NAA are associated with CVEs and death.PMID:35342817 | PMC:PMC8948509 | DOI:10.1177/23969873211059472

Advanced Interatrial Block Predicts Recurrence of Atrial Fibrillation and Ischemic Stroke in Elderly Patients With Hypertension
Conclusion: Both partial and advanced IAB are associated with AF recurrence in elderly patients with hypertension. Furthermore, advanced IAB is an independent predictor of ischemic stroke.

Predicting Atrial Fibrillation after Ischemic Stroke: Clinical, Genetics, and Electrocardiogram Modelling
Conclusion: We demonstrated that a model combining clinical and electrocardiographic variables provided robust prediction of AF in our post-stroke population. Role of SNP in prediction of AF was limited.

Regular pulse checks for patients with non-cardioembolic stroke in rehabilitation hospitals to improve recognition and detection of atrial fibrillation (the ESCORT study): protocol for a prospective multicenter observational study
ConclusionThe findings of this study will help identify patients with AF in rehabilitation hospitals and improve awareness among therapists.

In-hospital case management to increase anticoagulation therapy for stroke patients with atrial fibrillation: A hospital-based registry.
CONCLUSION: Our study indicates that in-hospital case management may be an effective strategy to improve anticoagulation for eligible stroke patients. PMID: 23660222 [PubMed - in process]

Improving outcomes in patients with atrial fibrillation: Rationale and design of the Early treatment of Atrial fibrillation for Stroke prevention Trial
Conclusion: EAST will determine whether rhythm control therapy, when applied early after the initial diagnosis of AF, can prevent cardiovascular complications associated with AF.
