Case report: Rapid improvement of crossed cerebellar diaschisis after intravascular laser irradiation of blood in a case of stroke
Rationale: Crossed cerebellar diaschisis (CCD) is a poor prognostic factor after stroke because without immediate cerebral reperfusion no further improvements in the patient's condition can be achieved. We investigated the clinical effects of intravascular laser irradiation therapy (ILIB) on CCD and evaluated the therapeutic effect in the sub-acute post-stroke stage.
Patient concerns: The 77-year-old male with cerebral infarction in the territory of the right anterior cerebral artery only underwent conservative treatment including hydration and aspirin in the acute post-stroke stage.

Late Seizures after Stroke in Clinical Practice: The Prevalence of Non-convulsive Seizures.
Conclusion There was a high rate of non-convulsive seizures in patients with late seizure after stroke. A non-convulsive seizure may be caused by any type or location of preceding stroke. More attention is needed in the differential diagnosis of neurological deterioration after stroke.

Progression of diabetes, heart disease, and stroke multimorbidity in middle-aged women: A 20-year cohort study
ConclusionsStroke was associated with increased risk of progression to diabetes or heart disease. Social inequality, obesity, hypertension, physical inactivity, smoking, or having other chronic conditions were also significantly associated with increased odds of accumulating multimorbidity. Our findings highlight the importance of awareness of the role of diabetes, heart disease, and stroke multimorbidity among middle-aged women for clinicians and health-promotion agencies.

Estimate of ischemic stroke prevalence according to a novel 4-tiered classification of left ventricular hypertrophy: Insights from the general Chinese population.
CONCLUSIONS: Indeterminate and thick hypertrophy were significantly associated with the presence of ischemic stroke in the general Chinese population. The new 4-tiered categorization of LVH can permit a better understanding of which subjects are at high enough risk for ischemic stroke to warrant early targeted therapy.

Comparison of recovery patterns of gait patterns according to the paralyzed side in Korean stroke patients: Protocol for a retrospective chart review
Conclusion:
If the use of gait analysis systems (GAITRite, G-walk, and Treadmill) confirms differences in gait recovery pattern among stroke patients according to the paralyzed side, the findings will provide essential evidence for differential treatment of stroke patients on that basis.

Matrix metalloproteinase-2 gene polymorphisms are associated with ischemic stroke in a Hainan population
This study investigated the relationship between MMP-2 and stroke risk in the Southern Chinese population.
We evaluated single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) of MMP-2 in stroke patients in an association study using a case-control design. Six SNPs of MMP2 were selected and genotyped by Agena MassARRAY. SNPStats, Haploview was used to analyze genetic data.
