E-115 Trans-radial versus trans-femoral access routes for diagnostic cerebral angiograms: a large single-center comparative cost-analysis study
ConclusionOverall, our study shows that the TR approach can be less a less expensive option for patients undergoing diagnostic cerebral angiograms, especially if complications occur. Future studies can corroborate our findings and potentially lead to the adoption of TR as a low-cost, efficient, gold-standard technique for cerebral angiography.Costs (dollars) Associated with Trans-Radial Versus Trans-Femoral AccessAbstract E-115 Table 1 Variable Trans-Femoral (n=314) Trans-Radial(n=612) P-value Total Cost, mean (SD) 12591.8 (19128) 12789.5 (18424) .88 Catheters, median (range) 12.4 (12.4-1900) 55.2 (12.4-369) .03 Closure d...

E-135 Dejerine-roussy syndrome in the setting of right sigmoid sinus thrombosis: a unique case report
DiscussionThis case illustrates the important clinical aspects and physical findings needed to diagnose DRS. The presence of focal allodynia and hyperalgesia with recent cerebrovascular incidents provides significant evidence for DRS. The purpose of this case is to provide awareness and to increase clinical suspicion of DRS during examination, especially in the setting of cerebral venous sinus occlusion as infarction alone may not present as atypical allodynia.Disclosures S. Imaging features of vertebrobasilar dolichoectasia combined with posterior circulation ischemic stroke: A vessel wall magnetic resonance imaging study
CONCLUSIONS: This preliminary study suggests that atherosclerosis may be an important cause of stroke in VBD patients. Symptomatic plaques in VBD patients have a lower degree of stenosis, NWI, and RI than that in non-VBD patients. VW-MRI may help to assess stroke mechanisms and identify VBD patients at high risk.PMID:37506476 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejrad.2023.110971

Personality change after 'flow diverter implantation' for intracranial aneurysm in a patient with stroke: A case report
CONCLUSION: The study demonstrates personality changes and psychiatric symptoms that might occur as complications following the placement of a flow diverter for incidentally detected aneurysm.PMID:37498089 | DOI:10.1080/02699052.2023.2237866

Automated acute ischemic stroke lesion delineation based on apparent diffusion coefficient thresholds
ConclusionThe performance of ADC thresholds for delineating acute stroke lesions varies substantially between patients. It is influenced by factors such as lesion size as well as lesion and parenchymal ADC values. Considering the inherent noisiness of ADC maps, ADC threshold-based automated delineation of very small lesions is not reliable.

Repeatability of quantitative T1rho magnetic resonance imaging in normal brain tissues at 3.0T
T1rho imaging is a quantitative MRI technique based on the properties of spin –lattice relaxation in the rotating frame, otherwise known as T1rho relaxation. The measured signal is obtained by the decay of magnetisation in the transverse plane, in the presence of a spin-lock radiofrequency field. T1rho is sensitive to low frequency interactions, and provides a viable approa ch to assess the macromolecular environment inside tissues. In recent years, quantitative T1rho imaging has been increasingly explored in various neurological conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease (AD), Parkinson’s disease (PD), Huntington’s Di...

The Guillain-Mollaret triangle: a key player in motor coordination and control with implications for neurological disorders
AbstractThe dentato-rubro-olivary pathway, also known as the Guillain-Mollaret triangle (GMT) or myoclonic triangle, consists of the dentate nucleus, the red nucleus, and the inferior olivary nucleus (ION). GMT is important for motor coordination and control, and abnormalities in this network can lead to various neurological disorders. The present study followed a systematic approach in conducting a review on GMT studies. The inclusion criteria were limited to human subjects with primary objectives of characterizing and evaluating GMT syndromes, and the methodology used was not a determining factor for eligibility. The sea...

Sleep Architecture, Obstructive Sleep Apnea, and Cognitive Function in Adults
CONCLUSIONS AND RELEVANCE: This study found that better sleep consolidation and the absence of OSA were associated with better global cognition over 5 years of follow-up. These findings suggest that the role of interventions to improve sleep for maintaining cognitive function requires investigation.PMID:37462968 | DOI:10.1001/jamanetworkopen.2023.25152

Genes, Vol. 14, Pages 1448: Isoflurane Anesthesia & rsquo;s Impact on Gene Expression Patterns of Rat Brains in an Ischemic Stroke Model
Conclusions: We were able to determine the effects of the duration of anesthesia using isoflurane on the transcriptomes in the brains of rats at 24 h after tMCAO. Thus, specific genome responses may be useful in developing potential approaches to reduce damaged areas after cerebral ischemia and neuroprotection.
