Observational study on passive leg raising and the autonomic nervous system
This study aims to clarify these concomitant changes during PLR. A convenience number of healthy volunteers (N = 11) were recruited by advertisement in university departments. The subjects were exposed to the established PLR sequence and the heart rate (HR), mean arterial pressure (MAP), SV, and CO were sampled at 1 Hz, while electrocardiogram was recorded at 1000 Hz. Relative powers reflecting autonom ic nervous system activity were assessed from spectral analysis of HRV. P ‐wave durations from automated electrocardiogram analysis to predict atrial fibrillation and mortality in heart failure

How is Ambulatory Electrocardiogram Predictive of Stroke in Atrial Fibrillation Patients?
CONCLUSIONS: In Holter ECG monitoring detected AF, AF burden does not significantly impact the subsequent risk of stroke; whereas, CHA2DS2-VASc scoring is still a robust predictor of stroke risk. Conclusions In individuals without a history of stroke or transient ischemic attack, alterations of LA structure and function, including enlargement, reduced strain, frequent premature atrial contractions, and intermittent AF, were associated with increased markers of small vessel disease. Incidence, lethality, and post-stroke functional status in different Brazilian macro-regions: The SAMBA study (analysis of stroke in multiple Brazilian areas)
ConclusionThis study expands the knowledge of stroke epidemiology in Brazil, a middle-income country with enormous socioeconomic and cultural diversity. The discrepancy observed regarding the impact of stroke in patients from Joinville and Sobral highlights the need to improve the strategic allocation of resources to meet the health priorities in each location.

Identification of magnetic resonance imaging features for the prediction of unrecognized atrial fibrillation in acute ischemic stroke
Conclusion Initial MRI at the time of stroke may be useful to predict which patients have cardioembolic stroke caused by unrecognized AF. Further studies are warranted to verify these findings and their application to high-risk patients.

Usefulness of Triglyceride-glucose index for detecting prevalent atrial fibrillation in a type 2 diabetic population

Vascular risk factors and staging of atherosclerosis in patients and controls: The Norwegian Stroke in the Young Study
CONCLUSION: Vascular risk factors are highly prevalent in young- and middle-aged patients and controls, and are predictors of established atherosclerosis at study inclusion.
