Microsurgical revascularization of a symptomatic proximal vertebral artery: pilot experiences from a single center
ConclusionMicrosurgical reconstruction is an alternative option that can effectively treat refractory proximal VASO disease and in-stent stenosis, with a high rate of postoperative vascular recirculation. Prospective cohort studies with larger sample sizes must be conducted to validate the above conclusions.

White Matter Cerebrovascular Reactivity: Effects of Microangiopathy and Proximal Occlusions on the Dynamic BOLD Response
CONCLUSION: Our results suggest additive effects of microvascular and macrovascular disease upon white matter CVR, but with greater overall effects relating to macrovascular SOD than to apparent microangiopathy. Dynamic ACZ-BOLD presents a promising path towards a quantitative stroke risk imaging biomarker.BACKGROUND: Cerebral white matter (WM) microangiopathy manifests as sporadic or sometimes confluent high intensity lesions in MR imaging with T2-weighting, and bears known associations with stroke, cognitive disability, depression and other neurological disorders 1-5 . Deep white matter is particularly susceptible to isc...

Transmembrane Stem Factor Nanodiscs Enhanced Revascularization in a Hind Limb Ischemia Model in Diabetic, Hyperlipidemic Rabbits
Res Sq. 2023 Jun 16:rs.3.rs-2997323. doi: 10.21203/rs.3.rs-2997323/v1. Preprint.ABSTRACTTherapies to revascularize ischemic tissue have long been a goal for the treatment of vascular disease and other disorders. Therapies using stem cell factor (SCF), also known as a c-Kit ligand, had great promise for treating ischemia for myocardial infarct and stroke, however clinical development for SCF was stopped due to toxic side effects including mast cell activation in patients. We recently developed a novel therapy using a transmembrane form of SCF (tmSCF) delivered in lipid nanodiscs. In previous studies, we demonstrated tmSCF n...

Novel technique of stent placement via gateway balloon in intracranial atherosclerosis-associated large vessel occlusion
CONCLUSION: Our preliminary experience suggests possible safety and feasibility of deploying Neuroform Atlas stent through a compatible Gateway balloon microcatheter without the need for ICH-associated microcatheter exchange. Further studies with long-term clinical and angiographic follow-up are warranted to corroborate our initial findings.PMID:37391866 | DOI:10.1111/jon.13139

Association Between Spontaneous Internal Carotid Artery Dissection and Perivascular Adipose Tissue Attenuation on Computed Tomography Angiography
This study evaluated the CT attenuation of PVAT surrounding the internal carotid artery (PVATcarotid) with and without spontaneous dissection.

Clinical Significance and Influencing Factors of Microvascular Tissue Reperfusion After Macrovascular Recanalization
In this study, we aimed to investigate the impact of tissue optimal reperfusion (TOR) and its influencing factors. From December 1, 2020 to December 1, 2021, AIS patients with successful recanalization (modified Thrombolysis in Cerebral Infarction score [mTICI]  ≥ 2b) after mechanical thrombectomy (MT) were retrospectively reviewed. Computed tomography perfusion was performed before and after MT. Successful reperfusion was assessed by TOR, defined as >  90% reduction of the Tmax >  6 s lesion volumes between baseline and early follow-up perfusion profiles. The impact of TOR on functional outcomes after...

Treatment of Intracranial Vertebral Artery Dissecting Aneurysms Using Pipeline Embolization Devices
ConclusionTreating IVADAs with PEDs may be a  safe and effective option, with favorable clinical and angiographic outcomes; however, complications associated with this treatment should not be ignored.Registrationhttp://www.clinicaltrials.gov. Unique identifier: NCT03831672

Zero-contrast imaging for the assessment of transcatheter aortic valve implantation in candidates with renal dysfunction
CONCLUSION: The proposed contrast-free imaging protocol appears to be a promising clinical tool for pre-TAVI evaluation in patients with severe renal dysfunction.PMID:37350345 | DOI:10.1080/0886022X.2023.2224888

JAK2 V617F Mutation and Large Cerebral Artery Disease in Patients with Myeloproliferative Neoplasms
CONCLUSIONS: This study revealed a significant association between the JAK2 V617F mutation and LCAD in patients with MPNs. This suggests that the JAK2 V617F mutation may promote cerebrovascular atherosclerosis and could be very important in determining therapeutic strategies for patients with not only JAK2 V617F-mutated MPNs but also LCAD-related stroke.PMID:37344447 | DOI:10.5551/jat.64118
