The Association of Low Molecular Weight Heparin Use and In-hospital Mortality Among Patients Hospitalized with COVID-19
ConclusionsAmong hospitalized COVID-19 patients, LMWH use was associated with lower all-cause in-hospital mortality than non-LMWH users. The survival benefit was particularly significant among more severely ill patients.

ORal anticoagulants In fraGile patients with percutAneous endoscopic gastrostoMy and atrIal fibrillation: the (ORIGAMI) study
Conclusion ORIGAMI prospectively investigates PEG-administration of edoxaban in PEG-treated patients requiring long-term anticoagulation. Our preliminary retrospective data support this route of DOAC administration. ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier NCT04271293

State-of-the-Art review: Home blood pressure monitoring: current status and new developments.
Abstract Home blood pressure monitoring (HBPM) is a reliable, convenient and less costly alternative to ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) for the diagnosis and management of hypertension. Recognition and use of HBPM has dramatically increased over the last 20 years and current guidelines make strong recommendations for the use of both HBPM and ABPM in patients with hypertension. The accuracy and reliability of home BP measurements requires use of a validated device and standardized procedures, and good patient information and training. Key HBPM parameters include morning BP, evening BP and the morning-ev...

TAVR in nonagenarians: An analysis investigating safety, efficacy, symptomatic improvement, and long-term survival.
CONCLUSIONS: Out of 2336 patients, 2183 were younger than 90 years (<90y.-group) and 153 patients were aged 90 or older (≥90y.-group). Procedure-related mortality (3.6% <90y.-group vs. 3.3% ≥90y.-group, log-rank p=0.9) and device success (97.2% <90y.-group vs. 96.0% ≥90y.-group, p=0.44) were similar. Estimated survival rates at 2 years were 62.8% (95% CI 55.3 and 71.4) in the elder and 76.0% (95% CI 74.1 and 77.8) in the younger patients (p<0.01). The incidence of acute kidney injury, stroke, major bleeding, and permanent pacemaker implantations were comparable between both groups. TAVR procedure is equal...

Outcomes after transcatheter aortic valve replacement in patients with low versus high gradient severe aortic stenosis in the setting of preserved left ventricular ejection fraction
ConclusionPatients with preserved LVEF undergoing TAVR for severe AS with LG, including LG with low SVI, have no significant difference in adverse outcomes when compared to patients with HG.

Triflusal in Patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome and Acetylsalicylic Acid Hypersensitivity
Conclusion: In this series of patients presenting with ACS and ASA hypersensitivity, triflusal showed good tolerability and was associated with a low rate of CV and bleeding events.Cardiology

Efficacy and Safety of Ticagrelor Versus Prasugrel in Women and Men with Acute Coronary Syndrome: A Pre-specified, Sex-Specific Analysis of the ISAR-REACT 5 Trial
CONCLUSIONS: Although there was no significant interaction between sex and treatment effect of study drugs, the superior efficacy of prasugrel was more evident among men. No difference in bleeding between the two study groups was seen for both women and men.PMID:33867409 | DOI:10.5551/jat.62776

Ischemic/bleeding event after short dual-antiplatelet therapy in patients with high bleeding risk: Sub-analysis of the MODEL U-SES study
CONCLUSION: In contemporary PCI practice, nearly half of patients had HBR and presence of HBR significantly increased risk of ischemic/thrombotic events. Both aspirin and P2Y12 inhibitor monotherapy following short DAPT had low and comparable ischemic/bleeding events.PMID:33875313 | DOI:10.1016/j.jjcc.2021.03.015
