Endometrial Cytology as a Method to Improve the Accuracy of Diagnosis of Endometrial Cancer: Case Report and Meta-Analysis
Conclusion In conclusion, endometrial cytology is an efficient diagnostic method and could be applied in the diagnosis of endometrial disorders. The diagnostic accuracy of endometrial carcinoma will surely be improved by the combination of cyto-histopathological procedures and vaginal ultrasonography. Moreover, cytological examination, as a proper outpatient procedure, should be advised for endometrial screening, especial for those with high-risks of endometrial cancer. Author Contributions QingW and QiW drafted the manuscript. QingW, LZ, and CS collected the case. QiW, LH, and SM performed the meta analysis. HH perform...

Maternal and perinatal outcomes of SARS-CoV-2 infection in unvaccinated pregnancies during Delta and Omicron waves
CONCLUSIONS: Among unvaccinated pregnant women, SARS-CoV-2 infection during (vs. before) the Delta wave was associated with increased requirement for oxygen support (including ECMO) and higher maternal mortality. Disease severity and pregnancy complications were similar during the Omicron wave (vs. pre-Delta). SARS-CoV-2 infection in unvaccinated pregnant women carries considerable risks of morbidity and mortality, and COVID-19 vaccination remains key. Miscommunication of risks of Omicron infection may adversely impact the vaccination rate among pregnant women, who are already at increased risk of complications related to ...

Acute liver failure in Turkey: A systematic review.
CONCLUSION: Preventable causes of acute liver failure in Turkey include hepatitis viruses and intoxication. Active vaccination and public awareness can decrease the number of acute liver failures. Paracetamol is not an emerging reason for acute liver failure in Turkey now, but selling it over the counter may increase the risks. PMID: 24918128 [PubMed - in process]

Update on the epidemiology of rotavirus in the Middle East and North Africa.
Abstract Rotavirus (RV) is the leading cause of severe acute gastroenteritis (AGE) worldwide. Consequently, we conducted a systematic literature review on articles studying RV in the 25 countries of the MENA region during the past 15years (2000-2015). The methods and reporting were set according to the 2015 preferred reporting items for systematic review and meta-analysis protocols (PRISMA-P) and based on the elements from the international prospective register of systematic reviews (PROSPERO). Our literature search identified 169 studies meeting our predefined inclusion criteria. Studies reporting on RV were cond...

Tufted angioma arising at the site of hepatitis B vaccination: A case report.
Abstract Sepaskhah M, Hajizadeh J, Sari-Aslani F, Jowkar F. Tufted angioma arising at the site of hepatitis B vaccination: A case report. Turk J Pediatr 2018; 60: 188-190. Tufted angioma is a benign vascular proliferation which presents most commonly in infants and children and could occasionally be complicated by Kasabach-Merritt syndrome. Here, we report a 4-month-old girl with erythematous firm plaque on left thigh at the site of hepatitis B vaccine injection accompanied with thrombocytopenia. Histological examination showed multiple lobules of capillary sized vascular proliferation in the dermis and subcutaneo...

Bordetella pertussis in School-Age Children, Adolescents, and Adults: A Systematic Review of Epidemiology, Burden, and Mortality in the Middle East
AbstractDespite modern diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis (DTP) vaccines and high vaccine coverage, a resurgence of pertussis (whooping cough) has been observed globally. In North America and Europe, high vaccine coverage in children has led to a shift in the age-specific peak incidence of infection away from infants and towards older children and adolescents. However, much less is known about the prevalence of pertussis in older children and adults in the Middle East. A systematic search of MEDLINE, EMBASE, and BIOSIS was undertaken to identify studies published between 1 January 1990 and 17 June 2019, with information on pertu...

Determination of B- and T- cell epitopes for Helicobacter pylori cagPAI: An in silico approach
CONCLUSION: B- and T-cell epitopes that we have identified can induce both humoral and cellular immune responses. Thus, these epitopes have a potential for vaccine studies. Consequently, this in silico analysis should be combined with other pieces of evidence, including experimental data, to assign function.PMID:33169709 | PMC:PMC7659908 | DOI:10.5152/tjg.2020.19154
