Fimasartan-Based Blood Pressure Control after Acute Cerebral Ischemia: The Fimasartan-Based Blood Pressure Control after Acute Cerebral Ischemia Study
CONCLUSIONS: Fimasartan-based BP lowering achieved the target BP in two-thirds of patients at 24 weeks, and was generally well tolerated.PMID:34184441 | PMC:PMC8242309 | DOI:10.3988/jcn.2021.17.3.344

Antiplatelet Therapy after Intracerebral Hemorrhage and Subsequent Clinical Events: A 12-Year South Korean Cohort Study
Conclusion: Using antiplatelet treatment after ICH does not increase chances of recurrence, but lowers the occurrence of subsequent clinical events, especially mortality. However, the prescription and resumption rate of antiplatelet therapy after ICH remains low in South Korea.Eur Neurol

Influence of Type D Personality on Health Promoting Behaviours and Quality of Life in Stroke Patients: A Cross-Sectional Study in South Korea
Stroke has a worldwide incidence of 76 –119 per 100,000 people each year, and results in high mortality and disability.1 In South Korea, the annual incidence of stroke is 92.2 per 100,000 people; from 2013 to 2014, an estimated 795,000 people were affected by stroke.2 Worldwide, the incidence and prevalence of stroke are increasing con tinuously due to aging populations. By 2030, the occurrence of stroke is estimated to increase to about three times its current rate.3

Care Process of Recanalization Therapy for Acute Stroke during the COVID-19 Outbreak in South Korea.
CONCLUSIONS: These findings suggest that a prehospital delay occurred during the COVID-19 outbreak, and that patients with acute stroke might have been reluctant to visit and stay in hospitals. Our findings indicate that attention should be paid to prehospital care and the behavior of patients with acute stroke during the COVID-19 outbreak. PMID: 33480200 [PubMed]

Association Between Carbon Monoxide Intoxication and Incidence of Ischemic Stroke: A Retrospective Nested Case-Control Study in South Korea
Severe neurological sequelae occur in patients with carbon monoxide (CO) intoxication; however, whether the latter increases the long-term risk of developing ischemic stroke is unclear. We investigated the association between CO intoxication and ischemic stroke using data from the Korean National Health Information Database.

Remote Assessment of Post-Stroke Elbow Function Using Internet-Based Telerobotics: A Proof-of-Concept Study
Conclusions: Internet-based telerobotic remote assessment for motor impairment of spastic elbow in stroke using our system is feasible even in the worst setting, with too long of a distance and a delayed communication network.

Serum Homocysteine Is Associated With HDL Only in Stroke Patients With Small Vessel Occlusion
Conclusion: Although our study does not demonstrate causal relationship, we suggest that Hcy might play a mediating role between HDL and SVO stroke development. To clarify the role of Hcy on AIS, this study will provide academic support for designing future research.

Modification of Acute Stroke Pathway in Korea After the Coronavirus Disease 2019 Outbreak
Conclusion: This study demonstrated that the COVID-19 outbreak immediately affected the management process. However, it did not have a significant overall impact on the trends of stroke treatment processes and outcomes. The stroke management process should be modified according to changing situations for optimal acute management.

Risk of Major Adverse Cardiovascular Events Associated with Concomitant Use of Antidepressants and Non-steroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs: A Retrospective Cohort Study
ConclusionsConcomitant use of antidepressants and NSAIDs moderately elevated the risk of MACE, of which the observed risk appears to be driven by the concomitant use of tricyclic antidepressants and non-selective NSAIDs. Thus, healthcare providers should take precaution when co-prescribing these drugs, weighing the potential benefits and risks associated with their use.
