Stroke in Patients With Common Noncancerous Gynecologic Diseases: A Multicenter Study in Japan
DISCUSSION: In patients with common noncancerous gynecologic diseases, hypercoagulopathy may play a role in the pathogenesis of ischemic stroke/TIA without CSMs.PMID:37124460 | PMC:PMC10140918 | DOI:10.1212/CPJ.0000000000200165

Subtype-Dependent Reporting of Stroke With SGLT2 Inhibitors: Implications From a Japanese Pharmacovigilance Study.
Abstract Volume depletion as an adverse events (AE) caused by sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) because of their diuretic effect may raise the concern about the risk of lacunar stroke; however, an earlier meta-analysis reported no significant increase in the incidence of stroke without clearly distinguishing stroke subtypes. Here, aiming to investigate subtype-wise reporting of stroke potentially related to SGLT2i treatment, we conducted a disproportionality analysis using the Japanese Adverse Drug Event Report database, which contains approximately 500 000 cases recorded between April 2004 and M...

Serum Albumin and Risks of Stroke and Its Subtypes - The Circulatory Risk in Communities Study (CIRCS).
CONCLUSIONS: Low serum albumin levels were associated with an increased risk of total stroke, ischemic stroke, ischemic stroke subtypes, and intracerebral hemorrhage. PMID: 33191391 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

The diagnostic and prognostic performance of Lp-PLA2 in acute ischemic stroke.
CONCLUSION: High serum Lp-PLA2 level is correlated with AIS incidence, disease severity and recurrence, which could be utilized to guide clinical practice. PMID: 33483146 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Validation of the R2CHADS2 and CHADS2 Scores for Predicting Post-stroke Cognitive Impairment.
Conclusion These results suggest that the R2CHADS2 and CHADS2 scores are useful for predicting post-stroke cognitive impairment. PMID: 28924104 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

The Association between Glomerular Filtration Rate Estimated on Admission and Acute Stroke Outcome: The Shiga Stroke Registry.
CONCLUSIONS: Our study has ascertained that in acute stroke, particularly ischemic stroke, low eGFR was significantly associated with in-hospital death and at-discharge death/disability. Additionally, high eGFR was found to be associated with at-discharge death/disability. PMID: 29353826 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Impact of Physician Volume and Specialty on In-Hospital Mortality of Ischemic and Hemorrhagic Stroke
CONCLUSIONS: An increased number of stroke care physicians was associated with reduced in-hospital mortality for all types of stroke. The volume threshold of board-certified physicians depends on the specialty and stroke type.PMID:34393151 | DOI:10.1253/circj.CJ-20-1214

Long-Term Trends in The 5-Year Risk of Recurrent Stroke over A Half Century in A Japanese Community: The Hisayama Study
CONCLUSIONS: In the Japanese community, the risk of recurrent stroke decreased mainly from the 1960s to 1990s, but there was no apparent decrease in recent years.PMID:35185108 | DOI:10.5551/jat.63344

N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide predicts hospitalization for ischemic stroke in Japanese hemodialysis patients
ConclusionsElevated NT-proBNP level was associated with hospitalization for ischemic stroke, suggesting that NT-proBNP level is a valid biomarker for predicting hospitalization for ischemic stroke in HD outpatients.
