IJERPH, Vol. 18, Pages 1632: The Effect of Minimum and Maximum Air Temperatures in the Summer on Heat Stroke in Japan: A Time-Stratified Case-Crossover Study
We examined the impact of summer minimum air temperatures, which often represent nighttime temperatures, as well as a maximum temperature on a heat stroke. We collected data from the records of daily ambulance transports for heat strokes and meteorological data for July and August of 2017–2019 in the Tottori Prefecture, Japan. A time-stratified case-crossover design was used to determine the association of maximum/minimum air temperatures and the incidence of heat strokes. Assessment of changes in muscle mass, strength, and quality and activities of daily living in elderly stroke patients
This study included 179 patients. Patients received stroke rehabilitation 7 days a week individually. Muscle strength and quality significantly increased after 4 weeks on both the sides. Muscle mass decreased after 4 weeks; however, there was no significant difference between the two time points. Changes in muscle strength and quality showed a significant correlation with improvement in ADLs [r = 0.66 (male), 0.45 (female) and 0.55 (male), 0.31 (female), respectively]; however, muscle mass showed no correlation with improvement in ADLs. Short-term associations of ambient air pollution with hospital admissions for ischemic stroke in 97 Japanese cities
We examined the association between four regularly measured major ambient air pollutants, i.e., sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), photochemical oxidants (Ox), and particulate matter with aerodynamic diameters ≤ 2.5 μm (PM2.5), and hospital admissions for ischemic stroke by analyzing 3 years of nationwide claims data from 97 cities in Japan. Detailed phenotype of < em > RNF213 < /em > p.R4810K variant identified by the Chinese patients with acute ischaemic stroke or transient ischaemic attack
