Conclusion The high prevalence of comorbidities in patients with stroke indicates the need for therapies in preclinical studies that take into account these comorbidities in order to avoid failures in translation to the patient. Stenosis Length and Degree Interact With the Risk of Cerebrovascular Events Related to Internal Carotid Artery Stenosis
Conclusion: We found a statistically insignificant tendency for the ultrasound-measured length of sICAS<70% to be longer than that of sICAS≥70%. Moreover, the ultrasound-measured length of sICAS<90% was significantly longer than that of sICAS 90%. Among patients with sICAS≥70%, the degree and length of stenosis were inversely correlated. Screening for Fabry Disease in Japanese Patients with Young-Onset Stroke by Measuring α-Galactosidase A and Globotriaosylsphingosine
Fabry disease is an X-linked lysosomal storage disorder caused by mutations in GLA, which encodes the enzyme α-galactosidase A (α-Gal A). Although the prevalence of Fabry disease in patients with stroke has been reported to range from 0% to 4%, few cohort studies have examined Japanese stroke patients. Inhibition of Neointima Hyperplasia, Inflammation, and Reactive Oxygen Species in Balloon-Injured Arteries by HVJ Envelope Vector-Mediated Delivery of Superoxide Dismutase Gene
In conclusion, EC-SOD overexpression by HVJ-E vector inhibits neointima hyperpl asia, inflammation, and ROS level triggered by balloon injury. The modulation of cell growth-signaling pathways by EC-SOD in VSMCs might play an important role in these inhibitory effects.
